That's a nice machine! I love the older Miele's. I've never seen the care label with the cycles on the control panel, is that an original Miele sticker? The softener tank is a nice feature.

BTW, Ariel Colour is called Ariel Color overhere! LOL

Hi Rod

That looks a lot like a machine I looked at for sale some years ago. The machine was advertised cheaply not working. I looked at it, it wasn't spinning. I spoke to the owner, suggested I could look at it in case it was nothing serious. It turned out to be motor brushes. I tapped on the motor housing with a large screwdriver, it jiggled the brushes enough to get is working. I told him it would just need new motor brushes - he decided to keep it after all. It was a very interesting machine, it had effectively two motors on the one shaft - an induction motor for the tumble speed and a brush motor for the spin speed. It was 1100 rpm from memory. I didn't want it after all because it filled with cold water only and used a heater.

Congrats on keeping such a good old machine.

Chris.

Is this the matching Dryer

Hi Rod,

I was browsing on Ebay and found this. Is this the dryer that matches your washer?

Regards

Nathan

To Mielerod69: Wow, thats a cool machine you have there. Its a very heavy machine. As you said about 120-130 kg. I work at a place in Sweden where we are recycling machines. I weigh the machines before i begin. Most machines weighs between 50-75 kg while Miele is between 90-150 kg. Thats really amazing.
By the way, have you had any problems with the softener tank? I have seen a few where they had gone awry with that.

To Brisnat81: You are right. That dryer was matching this washer. You could buy both and save money because they was cheaper together.

That dryer is from a later generation than the washer. This dryer has the holes in the door opening (where the washer has the rubber boot). The older dryers that match the washer has a hole in the front panel behind the door (in the left corner on the bottom of the recessed part of the front panel.

The dryers that match the W459 are the T355 (vented model) and the T357K (condenser model). The washer that matches the T384 is the W783. There was also a matching condenser dryer, the T388C.

The W700 series was introduced in 1982 and one of the new features was a pull out detergent drawer instead of the flap that you see in Rod's pictures. The dryers were new too although they still used the T300 numbers, but for the new series they used higher numbers. The old series had water cooled condenser dryers (K at the end of the model number) while the new series had air cooled condenser dryers (C at the end of the model number).

Ok yes you are right Foraloyisis, but these washers wasnt sold in Sweden until 1982. I have checked with a former seller on that. He couldnt answer why it took so long, but thats how it was.

Oh, by the way, i,m planning to take pics at my work with my camera and then make so they are on a kodak cd so i can load it up here.

I have a little sad update on something. My General Electric dishwasher has sadly gone totally awry. I have already recycling it, but i saved the front panel and i,m planning to take a photo of it ans show it here.

It began suddenly smelling burnt and then it sparked a little where the motor is. water had leaked down there and it shorted out. I havent buyed a new dishwasher yet, but i,m thinking a Mile maybe could be a good buy.

I love the old mieles. Build to last long, and even if they are a bit older, they are very efficient!! My mother in law has an old miele to soak the dirty overalls from my husband and his brothers. I have a new miele (new she's 5 years old) and from the dirty overalls, over the diapers to the finest silk. Everything sparkels. And even 7 loads a day (when he's comming home after beeing 2 months on work "vacation") are no problem!

what a great machine! shame it doesnt have a window! it looks very sleek.

But from the point of view of the laundry lover.i'd find it fustrating, all that action & no means of seeing whats goin on!!! i bet that would be real fun to watch.

i no that lavamat_jons miele is real fun to watch! i love the costmetics of vintage machines. they were always very nice looking in my opinion. & that conditioner dispenser is soooo cool!!!!!

thanks for sharing those pics

Darren
