They had trouble with the metal brackets for the lid springs breaking. Springs too powerful for the sheet metal used in the tank. |

this model, in White. Scrub the chrome off a trailer hitch! Noisy, compared to many of today's dishwashers, but oh, could it clean. Very little rewash, and most loads came out perfectly. Lawrence/Maytagbear |

The owner called me today to confirm that I still wanted the dishwasher. The grandmother owned it and passed away this year. The family is closing on the house tomorrow (Friday the 31st) She will be making arrangements with the new owners for me to pick it up on Tuesday. She did mentioned that the new owners will be renovating the house and have no need for an "old dishwasher."

Well got the phone call today to pick up the dishwasher on Tuesday between 12noon and 2pm. It will be in the garage. If I'm late, the will wheel it outside of the garage. She found the owners manual (Hooray). I asked her where should I send the check? She said that it dishwasher was old and if I didn't pay for it, it was fine. I told her I would pay the price that she wanted ($25.00) I think I will pay her $30.00 for her trouble and making the arrangements. The dishwasher looks it great condition. I will post pics in the coming week.

Wasn't this one, with the figure 8-shaped filter, the one that originally washed for 18 minutes, with heating, and could present a real glass etching problem? |

I picked up the dishwasher yesterday. The poor thing was outside waiting for me to pick up. She was a little wet but she traveled well. Manual was inside in a zip lock bag. I cleaned her after work this afternoon and looks brand new.
I found a website yesterday that gives you the month and year of manufacture on appliances from the 60's and up. Per that website, she was made in March of 1974. Pics are attached. |

On my initial call, the owners grandson said, it was only used maybe 10 or 15 times. Dealing with the granddaughter on pickup, she didn't say much on the history. More than likely, grandma thought it used more water than washing by hand and if she was the only one in the house, why use it. The owners manual that came with it is also in mint condition.
I will be using it as a backup if my built in Kitchenaid breaks down. (its happen twice so far this year) |

After three loads, the Maytag worked fine. No leaks. I attached pics of the last cleaned load. Can't beat that washing arm on top. My partner mentioned that, that's the way clean dishes used to look like when he was growing up in the late 50's 60's. He also said "that's what happens when water is used to clean items." In the end, you save water because you wash it once. Not two or three times.
