Hi Matt

another nice find, and such a sensible price, I see its a right hand drive, I had one of these many years back, friend had it with the matching dryer. I have some vauge notion it was labeled as made in france, I know they were known for being made in britain, I just remember it was soap dispenser on the left unlike the usual Philips machines. anyway it had all the same components, poly tub, permamag motor etc.

Any news on the bendix compact?

Mathew

Got the Bendix

Got the Bendix pump sorted then the pressure switch went disfunctional. The rubber balloon has perrishedso the switch wont engage to shut off the inlet valve so the machine just fills constantly.

Hows you two?

Hi Matthew and Seamus.

The first Series 90, right hand drive Philips preserved in the UK! Machine looks in good nick and as well.

Hopefully there will be some more Permag whine on youtube soon!

Cant wait till you get it home and fingers crossed that you get the little Bendix sorted soon as well.

All the best
Paul

It's great to see that one of these has been saved.

We had the TOL version of this with 3 buttons and 3 knobs. It was 1100rpm spin. I think ours was made in Italy. Unfortunately it proved to be a troublesome machine. In its time (1989 - 1999) it had a new motor, timer, 3 new plastic door frames and new bearings. Eventually the on/off button got stuck in, so we had to switch it on and off at the socket. Oh and it rusted. Finally in 1999 the drain pump caught fire and the machine had to be dragged outside by my uncle!

It seems that our machine was an exception to the rule as they seem to be highly regarded overall.

Tom
