Not that new. Early-mid 50s, probably and WAAAY overpriced, even it it worked as well as Frigidiare propaganda (advertising) led you to believe. Someone here got one and said that it did not do much of a job of washing, but like all early Frigidaires had one hell of a heating element. What it could not wash off it cooked on, preparing the dishes for the next meal. The preheat was to build some heat in the machine to compensate for not having a pre-rinse to warm up the tank and the dishes so that the incoming water was not cooled too much for the only wash. It actually backfired for many types of soil that were cooked on by water that was too hot, but if you rinsed the dishes really clean before loading, it worked OK.

You're right about that heating element - over time, it would bake the coating on the underside of the lower rack.

Poor Frigidaire, always a beat behind the dishwasher band...

If it could not be washed with an up and down agitator, Frigidaire sorta took a pass.

I was thinking bouty this during the day today.  Frigidaire should have used that heating period to actually heat water.

They could have been the first with a steam cycle.
