Sorry agitatorboogie, this is just too significant NOT to have had that type of description in the thread heading.

I'm pulling for ya! There are so many 'nether washer forces' out there!

"They" must be a real "nut and wrencher" as these babies aren't easy to work on.

That will be some haul up out of that basement too!

Item should have told he or she was aware what they had and weren't going to let it go cheaply should intrest prove great.

Am pulling for you as well Scott. Let me know if you want one to send Onslow over to put a little muscle about and warn off others. *LOL*

Let Onslow Rest in Peace. He's dead. He won't be helping out anymore with crazy schemes. His car has backfired for the last time.

Oh My Goodness - Retract That

Totally forgot "Onslow" had passed on which made the comment on poor taste.

Cannot delete the post but scrub that idea.

Sorry.

Of course all this and we don't even know what's wrong with it. SELLER: "Needs a little work to get it back up and running".

So you're still in the running then, or totally good to go?

@Launderess: didin't know of Onlow's passing either; yet, one is sure he'd be happy with the memory you've served up of him hauling Scott's WP Magnum Combo after the Royal Doulton truck broke down whilst circling with Hyacinth's new three piece suite. Many thanks for the dinner chuckle.

Sad really, he was a cancer survivor but the thing came back and took him in the end.

and smart philosophizing--he was a hero of mine. Sad indeed. RIP, Buddy, free of Hyacinth.... for the time being, any way.

And now back to Royal Whirlpool and the Scots.

Actually my take on it is that the actor(Geoffrey Hughes) who played Onslow may be gone but since Onslow himself is just a character in a story line he will live on forever! Who knows maybe 50 years from now there may be revival of "Keeping Up Appearances" and we would have a whole new Onslow!" The character of Onslow was crated by Roy Clarke, who is still very much alive.

Alas .... was not meant to be

Well, I do not think I will be the owner of this old gal.

The seller was trolling for the Highest bidder to the "rare collectible"... and someone else supposedly offered $650.

The seller wanted me to commit to an offer without seeing the machine, and I was not willing to do that. They also were supposed to contact me on Friday to set up a time to come see it this weekend ... but they failed in that task as well. I think something fishy was amiss.

Oh well ... I much prefer the LK combo sitting at my other house anyway!

the mystery bidder dives in! And yet will he/she follow through or will this sit again in the basement for another Era?

Im the mystery bidder

Wow! when I e-mailed an interest in the machine.I was told they had someone offer 650.00 for it.I offered a firm 600.00 for it.And got it.We just got it this weekend. It is a 1957.The first model they made.I took a real chance driving all the way out there,But it was worth it.Not a spot of rust on it anywhere.Even the threads on all 4 legs are still painted grey rust free.Really lucked out this time. Now I need to do the inner work and go over everything to make sure all is well.Tons of loose lint between the tub and cylinder.Even the suds level window is full of loose lint. This machine was used mainly as a dryer.I will post pictures when done

Some one local bought it?

Scott,I never heard from them til the night we left.It was only e-mails.I was almost not going to go all all.Had it just been e-mails I would have not gone.I took a chance after he called me.To bad asking price was'nt stuck to.I do not think anyone offered 650.00 That is why I stuck to a Firm 600.00 Take it or leave it.If I would have offered the 650.00 Then I would have heard the next day that someone offered 700.00.And I would have been Out.We have seen these combos once in a while. They are still shoved in the corner of basements and will surface in time.
