Starting a new thread so as not to diminsh the latest Texas wash-in.

IIRC our gracious hosts have said this event has an open invitation to all applianceville dweebs, er members.

So here I go shooting off my mouth.

Yes, toggle's treats will be served on a silver platter. (I'm gonna be cooking. Bring Kaopectate! LOL).

There well be NY attitude, Arizona hospitalty and a rip-roaring good time for all. I hear our hosts have FABULOUS new machines in their colleciotns.

So save your rubles, drachmas, shekels and pounds sterling. BUT GET THERE!

YAY!! I'll try to attend this April because I really want to see Nate's, Ross's, and Roger's collections, but nothing final yet. Maybe I can convince Glenn into going as well...

That sounds great! I've never been to a wash-in (I hope there are no initiation processes like there are at the Rocky Horror Picture Show) lol

I'm actually close enough to attend one.

Initiation Process . . . . .

There is a little dance (or a jig, rather) you do have to perform in order to be properly "initiated" into a wash-in..... you will soon see what I mean.

Austin, I doubt you'll have to convince Glenn at all--if u go, I'm almost positive he'll go.

Now Bryan, simmer down, I don't want ya to get everyone else all agitated about the little dance we all had to do for our Texas wash-in participation.

Arizona You Say?

Keep me posted on the dates. Tucson isn't too bad a drive from Las Vegas, NV. It's about 5-6 hours to Phoenix, then a couple of more to Tucson. I think it would be fun to meet some of this group.

I might actually be able to get to this one, Tucson isn't too bad of a drive from Los Angeles. Everyone seems to have such a good time at these wingdings

Hi everyone. Tucson wash in is March 31, 2006 to April 3, 2006, but we may start a day or so early and end a day or so afterward. Roger, Nate, and I have been adding and removing machines so our collections are always changing. I suggested that we also do a visit to supermarket in Mexican area to purchase Mexican detergents, bleach, and fabric softener. Toggle will be in my kitchen whipping up a fabulous meal.
A great time will be had by all and anyone is welcome.
Ross

First: The complete body shave.

Second: Sccrifice of virgin to the appliance gods...(we may have to skip this part, (Lack of volutnteers and eleigible parties).

Third: classic ball-room dances. CHA CHA CHA

Fourth: OKTOBERFEST type booze-fest, drinking songs (social lubrication, ya know.)

Fifth: Lots of black leather.

We'll have such a relaxing time with our hosts. We'll all have some RNR, yes nate, I neeed decaf after 2 pm. Full tilt caffeine is required for early morning starts at wash-ins. We're all bleary eyed from the late nights.

For me, I think the caffeine would do better in the 11 PM--1 AM time period, and to provide an early morning kick-start...LOL! That was the Convention; stay late and get up early the next morning. Both Friday and Saturday night, the Texas Contingent never left before 1 AM...whew! But we were always excited the next morning about the day's festivities, that is, until we had to go home. :(

So if you are attending the AZ wash-in please send me your shirt size and pant size; and your gender, if there is any confusion. LOL. In the Subject Line please write *MY SIZE IS..* I will be sure to spot it. Of course details of my satanic plots are avaialble upon request.

Let me know your favorite music type (dance-able preferably), as I am trying to get a CD mixed that we can ALL enjoy. I wont say *no* to music files sent either.

Please keep us posted as to the schedule of the events. I would love to come but I can't say for sure right now, it all depends on my work schedule at that time. I should know by the end of February.

It would be great to see everyone and I have a good friend in Flagstaff that I would like to visit, so I could come for a least one or two days, but it does depend on work.

We will probably only be able to attend from March 31-April 2 because school is still in session. I'm getting excited already! YEE-HAW!

Hi steve, yes we do have some new machines. Meantime electrical work still being done in my garage to increase amperage. Have not had electricity there for a week to use my machines. Going through withdrawal symptoms.

I'd love to come but will be in Chicago attending the KBIS (Kitchen and Bath Industrial Show) from April 18th to april 24th.I go every year and enjoy seeing all the new products comming out to sell! From going to the anual Builder's Show a few weeks ago and seeing a preview of some new Whirlpool and LG washers, dryers, ranges and dishwashers.I am sure I will be excited being able to see a broader more precise picture of what is to come in new appliances.

I'd love to meet all y'all but I would be so intimidated by what everyone knows and what they've done.

Ya know, I love me some vintage appliances but I'm just a little old boy from the south, transplanted from the midwest, borned in the east with a vast knowledge of everything dishwasher!!

Said: I'd love to meet all y'all but I would be so intimidated by what everyone knows and what they've done.

When I went to the convention:

1- I had never been west of the Mississippi
2- I have not made my own travel plans in 14 years.
3- I had not traveled (that far) alone.
4- I knew very few people in the club, and was terrified I'd confuse real names, screen names and e-mail addresses.
5- I really had a slight fear in middle America that I'd be singled out and harassed because of, well you know. -NONSENSE.
5- I was terrified I'd make a fool of myself. I did, and that was the best part!

Many of us in the club have a liking for washing machines. Some like me are not all that well versed.

I think I speak for everyone --
We all have a common thread runnign through us.
Many of us have another common thread running through us.

But here comes the biggest truth you will ever hear.
There is VERY much love, and respect, and concern and family spirit. The bonds are instant and real.

Peace out.

I can't attend Tuscon. As mentioned in another thread discussing this gathering, I can't do a trip on an end-of-month weekend. *Maybe* if 3/31 was on Sunday and I was back that evening, but no way with it on Friday. I have tasks to do that are time/date sensitive.

I will, of course, be eagerly anticipating pics, videos, and stories!

:(

I did expect that you wouldn't be able to leave on an end-of-month weekend, but that just means ANOTHER good reason to drive to EC again...or for you to come out to Bellville for a mini wash-in when(ever) the Dispensall is finished and in the Studio!! Who knows, maybe some more surprises by then...

Ralph, I agree, you've got to go! In 2001 I came over from Europe for my first convention. I had never seen a working American toploader and the knowledge I had of those machines came from the club members and from the internet. It was one of the greatest experiences in my life. Never felt intimidated, just very welcome.

I have some training to do in Phoenix around that time so I am trying adjust my project plan to do the training the last week of March and the first week of April. I could just spend the weekend in AZ as compared to coming home. Gee, I wonder what I could do over that weekend for fun? Any suggestions?

Now I gotta see what the husband thinks. He barely survives a week when I'm gone he'd probably be in a mental hospital by the end of two weeks.
