Some of you might remember this dryer and how I wasn't so crazy about it's faux woodgrain backsplash...

Well with the help of this website ...

and Gansky1 - I was able to transform it into this:

It wasn't difficult but it also wasn't easy...

but I did it and I got it to work jut fine! I had to make a few adjustments and remove the electronics for the automatic sensors since my machine wasn't that fancy - but everything else was the same! The wiring wasn't terrible hard to figure out. That heap of coloured wires was a bit intimidating at first but still I took my time and sorted it out. I now have a beautiful working dryer to match my washer and I couldn't be more thrilled! A HUGE thank you to Greg for sending this to me and also to Robert and all of AW.org for even making this a possibility. I am truly blown away how this community not only works so well together but also helps to take something I've always secretly loved into a reality and now I can celebrate it ad enjoy it with others too! This just made wash day so much better!!!

:-D

Congratulations! I did something similar with a '68 Frigidaire dryer recently and I still haven't finished yet. The cabinet colors are still not matching!

A little spray paint helped a lot!

since my machine is white and the one he sent me was harvest gold. This was definitely a 3 hr project not a simple 1-2-3. But I am so glad i was able to figure it out and like tonight - I stayed up late last night untilI figured it out - it was so satisfying to go from a mess of wires to a working machine!

Very nice job. They show well in the pics. I really love how the consoles look with the lights. That reminds me of the green set I sent to Kevin. Congrats, Matthew!

For the life of me I cannot understand why laundry manufacturers abandon their old ideas no matter how clever they are. Those consoles are stunning! And the lights add so much mystique for a few extra wires and a flourecent bulb.
Congrats geextrarinse!

Very nice! Both from 1969 with what we now call a standard capacity tub and probably at Straight-6 with a green minibasket. Some money shots would be nice! No pressure.

Greg can be counted on to help if at all possible and if it's impossible, it just takes a little longer.

Matt,

Would you post the complete model numbers of these two? It would answer a couple of questions I have about GE 1969 models. Here's your Cracker Jack prize:

Ok geextrarinse, how many hours have you stood there in the afterglow of those console lights, caught like a doe in the headlights, staring at your prize?
Now that your search has born fruit, what's next on your must have list?

bajaspuma, those are your best renderings yet. The color gradient is very realistic and natural.
