Hey all here recently i purchased a Maytag A712 washer on craigslist a while back and it works very good until today,I was doing a load of laundry it washed, spined and rinsed until the last spin cycle it wouldn't spin out but the timer was still clicking so i checked the lid switch and opened and closed the lid and still didn't spin out till i turned it to the first spin cycle and once it started to spin i stopped it and turned it to the last spin cycle and it started to spin out.Once the laundry was done i did a test run of the last rinse and everything works fine now,I called the the appliance store where the lady bought it from and i told him the problem and he told me it could be the lid switch so would i need a new lid switch or a new timer i decided to post on here to get a second opinion from the washer experts.

Lid Switch

There are two small phillips head screws on either side of the plastic safety actuater pin for the lid switch. Try tightening them with a small phillips screw driver. Most likely its a cause. It also important not to lay Maytag washers on the front when transporting. It can cause the unbalanced rod to pull loose.

I'll try that with a small philips and see if that would help.
