A relative of mine recently purchased a 12KG Samsung EcoBubble washing machine and they are having serious problems with vibration during the spin parts of the cycle.

The machine has been moving out of place and vibrating pretty violently during the spin.

It is installed in their utility room which is not a concrete floor, but it is in exactly the same position as their previous Bosch Logixx 1600rpm and an older Miele that was there before that and neither of those machines ever had any major issues with vibration.

I have checked the machine and the transit bolts were definitely removed and I re-adjusted the feet to make sure the machine is definitely not wobbling. It all seems fine.

During the interim spins the machine didn't seem to bother doing a proper redistribution of the load. It just did a brief sense-tumble and then went straight into ramping up for a spin causing the drum to shake pretty badly. It just ignored this and continued to increase the speed causing the vibrations to become even more violent.

It got to the point that the machine's drawer shook open!

I tested the machine with a few dry shirts (about 6 or 8 small items) and just put it onto a 1400 spin cycle. It did exactly the same thing. Just began to shake and didn't detect that it was out of balance.

I ran the calibration cycle to see if that might do anything. You empty the drum and the machine does some kind of sensing movements. That didn't improve anything.

The machine's only about a month old and this behaviour is also only happening in the last few days. So, I can only assume that something's gone pretty seriously wrong with either a sensor or a damper or something.

Any ideas what the likely problem is?

I think perhaps it might be time to look for a replacement or full refund. My relative's pretty annoyed about the whole thing as the machine was pretty expensive and supposed to be fairly good.

VRT

I thought that those machines had the state of the art "vibration reducing technology" system.

My wife and I had a Samsung and it performed well as a washer but it was a bad spinner, it used to walk down the isle on its own and the only thing that stopped it from moving was the water pipes, thankfully it never broke the inlet pipe. The thing is it took forever to try and balance the load, once it ignored the system and just went on spinning and almost jumped a feet in the air.

We got rid of it and got a Miele, much more plain than the Samsung but at least it does what it is supposed to do without any hickups.

I really lost my trust in Samsung, I think they want to take over the world lol.

I would advise them to get their money back and go out and buy a Miele again.

Cheers

My friend has a Samsung washer not Eco bubble and hers is the same it's jumped about so much it snapped one one it's legs in its corner feet things, I've had to lower all feet so although not perfectly level it now shuffles around the garage on spinning rather than rocking around or jumping up, and it it does jump up it lands solidly on floor. It either takes ages to try and spin or just goes for it without thinking at all, I'm assuming there's a problem and this is not a design fault as such. It's terrified her dog and were on the verge of strapping it down ! Ha ha (the washer that is not her dog!)

Believe me, I had no influence over the purchasing decision as I would not have gone for a 12kg machine! It's really pushing the boundaries of what you can fit into a standard cabinet.

Given that the tumble-dryer that accompanies it only takes 8kg (absolute max), the extra capacity on the washing machine is just confusing.

I don't think it's ever loaded beyond about 8kg anyway.

However, all that being said, the machine has "VRT Plus" which is supposedly supposed to mean that it's stable and I really think the level of bouncing involved is way beyond acceptable to the level that I could only assume there's some kind of a fault with the machine.

The weird thing is that it apparently did not bounce like this for the first couple of weeks and now it's become very unstable. So, perhaps it's got a damper problem or something.

My question is...

Where do you get all the laundry from? Unless you have a very big Family, we are a family of 3 with a six month old daughter which goes through an absurd amount of clothes on a daily basis, but even then we dont wash every day. We have linen/cotton table napkins which we use,the bedding is turned every week with lots of white towels and sometimes our relatively "small" 7.5kg miele must go without a full load. So if you only want to wash one load per week I suppose a 12kg is good, but lets be honest what's the fun in that?!

Cheers

I hope you or your relative called for service before you posted this message. A machine one month old exhibiting such a profound failure should probably be replaced by the factory.

Samsung Washer.

Sorry to hear about your relative having problems with their Samsung Washer. How old is the washer?. If its under 6 months they can demand a new machine under the sales of goods act.

I had a problem with a Bosch washer and a Which Legal Team Member sorted out my problem and Comet exchanged the machine.

They need to act fast

Regards

Paul
