My Boss has a 1967-69 KitchenAid dishwasher model @ KDS-55 He needs parts or the entire appliance for parts. He has had this appliance for over 40 yrs and wants to keep it. Needs parts to repair it.
Also, if we can't get parts or the whole appliance, do you know anyone who could custom make a dishwasher that will look like this one?
Does anyone know if parts from, let's say, a KDS-17 or KDS-19 or simular will interchange with the KDS-55?
Thanks for any help you can give me. It doesn't matter how far you live from Michigan--he wants this project completed. Thanks again, Ed

Ed:

The KDS-55 was the portable/convertible version of the built-in KDS-15, which is more like 1965-67 (if anyone knows exact years better than I do, please jump in, but I think those are the years of production). Most parts are interchangeable between the KDS-55 and KDS-15, except for certain cabinet and door parts, and of course, the hose/connector assembly.

The KDS-15 turns up fairly often, even today; several have been offered here. At least one of the ones offered went begging.

You should be able to come up with a donor machine in a reasonable length of time if you just keep your eyes open. Being willing to bear some shipping cost will drastically increase your chances of finding one sooner rather than later.

Also, viable parts machines surface on craigslist and ebay more often than you might think.

Thank you all for your information. These things I didn't know and you were very helpful.
I will continue looking until I find one. Thank you again
