hi i am very new to the club. i am actually on a seek and find mission for my dad. recently my folks came into a pan-o-matic washer that is in great condition. they have been using the washer until the the main switch gave out. my dad wants to replace the switch but has had real difficutly finding a repairman/supply store that knows anything about the machine or the switch. can any one give me any info on this machine and where i might find parts to repair it?
thanks!

HI Denise:

Try RepairClinic.com, then go to the parts locator section.

check

the model plate to make sure that Pan-O-Matic is the actual manufacturer name and not just a model name.

Panasonic had/has a line of washers called Soakmatic. Could that be it?

Designgeek, you're probably right. However, I'm still holding onto a thread of hope that there's a machine out there none of us have ever heard of. Then we'd know how astonomers feel when a new star is discovered..

Daddy, what's an astonomer?

I can't seem to get through a damn comment without a typo or grammatical gaffe, lately.

An astonomer is one who gets astonished!!!

Hey, you've just coined a nice neologism there.

Strictly speaking, an "astonomer" should be someone who measures degrees of astonishment, but the idea is basically the same.

Good one!

i know that it is not a soak a matic though that is a good name. because my folks live in jamaica, the turn around time on info drags a bit. i have put my younger sibling on the case --she is visiting them for the holidays--i should have a response soon. my dad promised to look on the motor itself to see what is printed/stmped on it but there is no garantee on how long that may take. if any one hears of anything else...

Back in the 70s, Panasonic products really started showing up on store shelves. I remember that their massager/vibrator was called a Panibrator so maybe the washer name could be reflecting that name structure for another appliance.

The Panibrator? Is that the precursor to the i-Brator?

Can't resist...

I thought the Panibrator was from Greek folklore, part man, part vibrator

I thought a Panibrator was something from Greek Folklore. Part Human, Part machine.

Panamatic sounds like a French bread machine.

Interestingly enough, Panasonic does make a fully automatic bread maker. You dump the ingredients in, close the lid, press a couple of buttons, and some time later it pops open and you have a perfectly baked fresh loaf of bread. Seriously!
