Hey all :) Had a seriously bust day! Long story about the old WDR1030. I set it to Cottons 60 and left the machine at 3:40, then at 3:50 the teacher locked the room, and finally that evening I walked past the kitchen patio doors at 4 and the machine was washing fine. I walked past the patio doors today at 8:30 and water was coming out the patio doors, they were open. I walked past the kitchen looking at the floor, I didn't look at the machine until my mate told me to look at the machine. I went round to look at it with serious butterflies in my stomach and I stared at the machine. the door was open and was spitting water out, the kitchen doors are an inch off the floor with a ledge so it was a pool. I went in and propped the door ajar as it wouldn't close as the interlock was locked, and so I placed a stool by the door and that kept it shut. I helped to clear up the water and then I put the machine on to drain. On the drain program the drum does not revolve, so with the water not pumping, I tried an 850 spin. It spun fine but no pump. So I took the aprons out and wrung them out into the sink. Then I dragged the machine out with the help of a friend and left on the gravel as instructed. it sat there till the end of the day, as it was there at 2:30, I was with it discussing why the door opened mid cycle. It had gone by 3:30. So I really don't quite know much more about it and has gone to be repaired or replaced (scrap :( ). Hopefully it will be repaired and sent back as it rocks! If not, oh well :( I hope that aswell as the pump they replace the door.

Thanks for reading, and there is the machine on the gravel attached. I will put a pic of the drum up with remaining water in it. Chris

Also on a brighter note, I am picking up an Indesit this eve so I will put a pic up later.

Granny...

Had a Tricity Bendix washing machine from 2000 until around 2003. It was her first automatic having used twin tubs since the 60's. It was notoriously unreliable and was always causing havoc, the drums were and still are, tiny. Mum comparing Granny's to the size of a coal bucket. Never liked it, complaining that she should have got a WMA like Mum's which only gave trouble in its last years. Really Christopher try not to miss it too much. Far better catches like our WMA's and WM's :D I really wouldn't mind upgrading to a WMA6x if I got a chance.

James.

George...

Mum's current daily driver is a Hotpoint WML540 and TDL52.

Granny's daily driver is the next model up from Mum's I cant remember the model number but its an Aquarius+ and a Zanussi condenser dryer.

My Aunt's all have WF Hotpoints.

James.

Hey :)

Surprisingly I am missing it a lot, even though I have only done 20 at the most loads in it! It is super at drying, I put a full load of aprons in and set it to 30 mins on low heat. they were bone dry. It was a nice, quick and smart machine, until water was all down it and on the floor and pouring from the door, it looked seriously sorry for it's self :( Oh well, it is the way things go.

On a brighter note...

..I did pick up this, an Indesit W143S washer. It is nice but a tad dirty. I will be trying it later. It may be broken for parts, it has had in the past 4 years 2 bearing changes, 2 tubs, a motor, a pump, a solenoid, a timer (last month) and brushes last week. Can't say if I like it or not, only said hello to it briefly last night.

The motor. I photographed under the washer. Visible carbon brushes and tachometer.

I had an Indesit like that but in white. It was a nightmare. Lasted 15 months in total. The motor failed after 13 months so I replaced it. Then the timer went. It just kept going around and around. So I changed that as well. Then the heater packed in and I give up with the machine.
