So I tried out the Hoover Twin Tub yesterday and discovered where that leak I found last week was coming from.
Not good news-it's leaking from around the seal of the spin tub.
If it's just the seal, I may be able to re-seal it with some silicon.
But if it's cracked and or wasted, then I'll need to replace the entire seal. Which may not be a bad idea anyway. I just didn't want to have to do it just yet.
It reaches full spin and the pump works just fine-PHEW! Since that is Hoovers' usual weak link.
It does 'squeak' a bit for about a half a second just as it nears the high point of the spin speed and the same when I open the lid to stop the spinning.
A little WD-40 on the spin shaft should solve that problem.
BUT.........
I have to share this one thing about this machine that I LOVE!!!
It actually has TWO complete pumps. This particular model has a recirculating lint filter system-just like a GE Filter-Flo or even better example, a Hotpoint Twinnie.
If you look closely at pic #3 and somewhat in pic #4, you will see a lint filter attatched to the wash tub lid. And if you look even closer, you can see in the top left corner of the wash tub, there is a little black spout. That spout "pumps" water into the lint filter and creates a recirculating ling filtration system. I have NEVER seen this on a Hoover Twin Tub before and am very excited about it-it makes this machine so much more 'complete', except for no heater, but I digress........
The pump for the filtration system is run by the wash motor and is attatched almost directly to the wash motor. Therefore, the water is ONLY recirculating while the wash motor is engaged.
I can't wait to show you this feature and the machine itself in action as soon as I can get it working and functioning properly.
Soon, folks, SOON!
