Hi all,

Fast forward back to September last year, my faithful old Hoover Electron was most certainly on the way out, poor old thing. It ended up being replaced with a Hotpoint Aqualtis condenser. Big mistake! After 12 months of arguing with a dryer that would constantly tell me things were dry, but weren't, so I would have to use the timer cycle which you could only use on 30 mins, 60 mins or 90mins. Grrr. 90 mins for a load of cottons? That's just taking the wee wee.

Rewind to this weekend, our very own lavamat_jon brought me this little beauty, which so far I am thrilled with. It's vented, this eliminating the annoying need for me to bring the water tank out of the cellar and tip down the kitchen sink. It's also quicker, quieter and reverses more frequently (the Aqualtis only reversed about every 10-15 mins, meaning a lot of things got tangled and didn't dry evenly), meaning it dries more efficiently. Overall, very pleased with this. Thanks Jon :).

Lovley looking dryer! :)
I had simmular problems with a zanussi condenser dryer, it was time driven and a load of bedding which would be dry in 60 mins on high heat in my old creda condenser would take a maximum of 130 mins!
I saved and got a candy vented dryer and the difference was noticeable, Ive recently gotten a condensing gorenje dryer is fantastic, its got the speed and the gentleness of the candy but its a condenser!
Happy drying!
Tom

glad you are pleased with your new dryer. I must say I would never go back to a condenser dryer now. I can dry a full load of bath towels in 60mins, half the time it took in my previous condenser dryer.

I bet the build quality is a lot better on the Siemens too! Is it a 6kg model?

Hi Paul,

I think it's a 5kg actually, but it's a very large 5kg. It took a full load of towels straight out of the Miele no problems and had them dry in just under an hour. The aqualtis took far too long to dry anything, and when left on the sensor cycles, would often leave things patchy. I think this is because it didn't reverse properly, so any large items like bed sheets would get tangled and not dry properly.

The build quality of the Aqualtis was actually pretty good, but the Siemens is still head and shoulders above it.

Hi George,

I just did a straight swap with Jon - he took the Aqualtis and sold it onto a friend of his, I believe.

Great machine, my aunt has the matching washer, is this from around 2004ish?

On the subject of dryer's, does anyone know of anywhere selling vent hoses/ condenser kits for the Hotpoint 17420 range where they vented from the front via a grill on the fascia?

Thanks

Jacob

My friend is really pleased with the Aqualtis dryer, so everybody's happy!

Is this a Siemens that's not made by Siemens??

I remember reading a thread on AW a few months back regarding a strange branded dryer, available in Wales, I forget the name. I am sure they made this Siemens dryer?? Could be completely wrong and this is a Completely Siemens made product, if it reverses, then Siemens have no where to hide these days claiming reversing dryers where out faster??

Montpellier dryers are not limited to sale in Wales, they are made in china by Midea, this dryer that AquaCycle has is a genuine siemens.
