Hello all! I have just received my Maytag model 142 matching washer/dryer pair in turquoise! Unfortunately during transport, the right side glass cracked on the washer (the side with Maytag writing). Does anybody know where I could find one of these? Thanks ahead.

What a bummer!

There's a guy on eBay that's been trying to sell the left side glass for this washer for six months or more. If a panel had to break in shipping, why couldn't it have been that side? Good luck with your search. There's an outfit here in the Los Angeles area that I'll check for you tomorrow, but don't hold your breath. This is kind of an obscure item.

I felt the same way, of all things to break. I really appreciate the help!

I had a 906 set that had half the glass cracked. I was able to use a piece of plexiglass, painted white on one side. Might work until a replacement is procured.

It is white with white stripes and a red Maytag emblem. I'm crossing my fingers!

Unfortunately I have the glass for the later model A700 only ,this would fit but you would need to change the glass for the washer and dryer or it would not match. I do have both the washer and dryer glass for the later model so if you want to change it all contact me, I do think that the earlier glass looks better and if you are entering your MTs for judging you may lose points, LOL.

Way back in November of 2011

Marty(in Oregon) posted some photos he took on a trip to an appliance graveyard near his home. It seemed to me that I'd seen this glass in one of those photos so I looked up his old thread and sure enough here it is. It's not perfect, the paint seems to have faded a bit, but it's better than a broken one, and with a bit of effort it could probably be restored. Here's the photo he posted along with a link to his thread. Perhaps you could contact him about it. With any luck it'll still be there. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the help John, but for now I'll stick with the cracked one I have as I do like the color better. I will definitely contact you if I change my mind. Thanks again!

David, I will give Marty a try and see what happens. Thanks for digging this up!

Jon I agree I would try to find the original also, when I was looking at my 140S [ which also has your washers style glass ] it really is a better looking more retro resign that the next style panel. These older style panels are still around and with the help of this group you will likely find one,   Good Luck John.

Resin for long crack repair

This is a long shot but perhaps something like this could be used to repair the broken panel.

Part Number?

Does anyone know the part number for this panel?

Thanks Andrew, that may be an option. However, the paint is also chiped and would need to be repaired.

Maytag part# 211241

You are welcome Bob. I believe the part number is 211241 or 2-11241 depending on what source you are looking at.

Lost Cause...

I contacted several parts suppliers trying to find this glass to no avail. I contacted two antique gas pump glass panel reproducers. One guy said it would be too difficult to match the paint, the other guy said he most likely could, but could only do runs of 100 or more. Fat chance finding 100 people who need this panel. Finally, I tried Rick's Restoration as a last resort and I was told "we do not do repairs here we only do full restorations." If anyone happens to come across one of these panels sometime, please let me know.

I may know of a glass, but the place is closed for the winter. They reopen in March.
