As one is considering adding another front loader to the collection am wondering if it is better to purchase *new* and get the extended warranty from any of our credit cards versus an used unit and having to absorb any repair costs.

On both previous purchases of used washers (Miele 1070 and Whirlpool portable) each required work upon arrival that cost a decent amount of change. Granted if one had tools, the know how and of course time could have done the work ourselves (on the Miele a new door boot and pump, the Whirlpool required a new tub seal), but that didnt happen.

Miele USA's warranty on new W&D for instance is pitiful (one year), at least the CC will move it out to two years.

Miele USA's extended warranty

Miele's 5-year extended warranty is $249 via their web site and at least one online reseller is providing remote vision w/ 5-year extended warranty for $198. Either options costs less than many store plans.
