I became rather "curious" throughout the day today reflecting on today's POD of my new-then Lady Shredmore & dryer.  Price in the catalog was $599 for washer & $469 for dryer.  If someone would be so kind, I'd like to have an idea what the price was for the Maytag TOL washer and dryer for that year (ya know, the 1986 equivalent of the 806/808 center dial pairs before they shifted the timer knob to the right hand side.)  Would that have been the 810? If I'd gone the Maytag route, I"m sure I'd still have the set.

We used to sell the 712 washer for around $725 back then. The dryer was 100 less.

Wow, that was a whole lotta shekels back then! Still see ton of those 12 series running in peoples garages and for sale on C-list.

I've been on the lookout for a DG713 for sometime now. Those DE/DG713's are incredibly difficult to hunt down.

Oddity

I bought an 806 pair in 1979 just at the model change and paid $1,000.00 at De Haan's in Parchment , Michigan. We also bought a TOL Maytag dishwasher, Frigidaire 30 inch double oven range and Refrigerator with ice and water in the door so we got a good price. In 1991 I bought an LAT TOL set at Anderson's in Mt Vernon, WA for $1,000.00 just before they closed. In 1999 I bought a MAV TOL set at Shaw's Appliance in Ellensburg, WA for $1,000.00. We bought the LAT set with a gas dryer and left it in the house in Puyallup when we moved and went back to using the 806 set. When we bought the Atlantis set we gave the 806 set to a friend of my daughter. Patti is still using the Atlantis set. All six of the appliances were bullit proof and ran without a repair from us with the exception of the Atlantis which received a factory recall timer.
