Hello again folks, as some of you might remember I got an older W/D machine and I'm putting it back to shape.
I changed the fand and motor of the drying part, the motor start capacitor and also got a new rubber boot.
Washing performace is EXCELLENT! In one hour at 30°C it outwashes the modern crappy Whirpool at a 2 hour, 40°C cycle, despite the lower temperature I used.
Also at (real) 60°C and 75 minutes it outwashes a 2:20 minutes cycle at fake (60°C) in the same washer! And clothes are so well rinsed I might start to cry in happiness!
Bad thing is the poor spinning performance, at only 570 rpm stuff is quite wet, ah I wish it was at least a 800 rpm spinner, it would make a so much better job for the dryer!

Anyway, washing is fantastic, drying is not! When cold the heating elements (there are two for a total of 1500W - 750x2) have infinite resistance to earth, when they heat up, sadly they leak and the machine trips the RCD in the circuit AND also the one in the basement near the power meter! I hate that, I'm going to run it with earthing disconnected and try out the drying cycle, of course I'M NOT GOING NEAR THE MACHINE! I tested the various components with a multimeter and all grounding seems to work perfectly on the components while keeping the cabinet insulated. At least this! :) But I want the machine to work in total safety!!!

I hope that after having run a complete drying cycle in it the elements will "dry" and stop exhibiting that bad behaviour, otherwise I'll need to replace them, how sad (and expensive!)

Anyway, here come the photos: here you can se the new fan installed in the dryer duct (it goes between the water condenser and heater)

Second photo!

Here you can see the connection of the two heaters, the upper one is disengaged when heating at low temperature for delicates, mind that in a washer-dryer hot is around 90°C and low is 60°C!!! Also the thermal safety are set at 130°C!!!

Here is the re-assembled washing machine, since that photo I shined up the chassis. It looks almost new! :)

And finally a video, you can see the machine drying

Sorry for the poor quality as I filmed with my phone as camera had low batteries and I had to bring the machine in the toilet as it needs a water connection for the drying part (you can see the condenser full of dripping water in the video!)

As you could see in the video I disconnected one of the two elements, the top one shorts out as soon as it gets warm, while the bottom one keeps running for some 20 minutes if left alone. Later I'm going to try the machine with earth disconnected and see if I can get it to dry.

I'm going to use this perverted tool: a Shuko-to-Italian-10A-plug adapter, where I removed the earthing pin. I advice everybody not to try this at home hehehe! :)

You might find that dampness has seeped into the dryer elements and if you can dry them out thoroughly they will be OK. This is a common problem with electric cookers installed in holiday accommodation. The cooker is not used all through the winter then trips the RCD as soon as the first guests switch it on. Because these earth leakage devices are so sensitive there is no chance to run the appliance long enough to drive off the dampness.

Because I'm lazy ahahahah! (I like set and forget!)
No, in reality I use another higher rpm washing machine and this is just more than a toy I'm fixing up out of nostalgia. :D
In my house is so hot and dry that stuff dries overnight even if left dripping! Gosh I hate I can't lower the heating...
