That was my lunch box too!  Wish I still had it, but I don't need to pay upwards of $100 for one just like it.

That spinner has SEVERAL mechanical resonances!1Be sure to keep the cats well away fom that thing!So-thats what goes on under that spinner lid! When I was a child remember a top I had that would make similar noises as you spun it faster and faster!!you know the tops that had the push handle on the top-the more you pumpted the handle up and down-the faster the top spun!!That spinner is an ADULT version of a kids top!

Three Phase Motor Extractor

combo52's profile picture

Yes this is a new toy that will be installed at the warehouse, my brother Jeff tacked it out at 1550 RPMs it looks and sounds like it is going faster , most of the people that have seen it run usually are also running away, LOL. All the noise is mainly caused by the air rushing through the holes in the spinner basket, if you have clothing in it all the whistling is gone. The machine will get a complete rebuilding and repainting, the safety interlocks have all been bypassed and the brake is not functioning at all so it takes several minutes to coast to a stop. It takes two strong men to lift the spinner basket out [ three is better ] I am sure it has more than 100 pounds of cast iron at the bottom of the basket.

I was given this extractor by a commercial Speed Queen laundry distributor here in Maryland, he had two even larger ones that he offered me but the machines were more than 42" wide and the doors in the warehouse are all 36" so I took this smaller model. All three extractors he had have 3 phase motors so I had to modify my 208 volt test line and power it with a three pole 30 amp breaker.

What kind of laundry was spun in this? sheets, towels, or clothing?

I wonder how much this would extract from a load spun in a Unimatic?

It's OK MickeyD, the end of the world isn't for a few more days.  The aliens had to go fix a broken hydrogen line before they can spend time torturing the earthlings.

3ph motor starts!!

Oh yes--love that sound-the bigger the motor--the BETTER!The sound of POWER!Love to listen and watch the 3 ph motors here rev up when starting the blowers and pumps on the transmitters. That extractor was something like what was in a laundramat Cocoa Beach,Fla(Near Cape Caneveral)You would put your clothes in the extractor-after the washer-then put a special cover device on top of the clothes in the spinner basket. Then close the lid(love the open lid shot of the extractor in the video)The spinner had a coin box on it -and loved using it-the rev sound!!!and made a nice "spindown" sound, too. And when we had a total power failure here last night-the sounds of motors reving up!!made the unpleaseant night-then more pleasent.
