Not in bad shape. The woman had it stored under her carport with a tarp over it. A few insect critters and made the inside of it their home. Some three dimensional mold also found the underside of the sump cover and sump grate a pleasant place to live.

the inside, now cleaned up

and the control panel...

The chrome has many swirl marks. The owner must have used a Brillo pad to clean it! (Why would anyone do that???)

Anyone know how to get those off of the chrome? I am afraid to be too aggressive and abrade the chrome plating off.

However, not a bad buy for $15.

Looks super nice.
I like the self advancing timer model in GE. I don't know why. Its just fun. And that model stuck around quite awhile, if I remember right. From the late 70s into the 90s. (someone correct me if I'm wrong) I seem to remember them having this model, or a version of it, until 1997.

YAY!

Correct me if I'm wrong Barry, but didn't you use to use a GSD2800 on a ship?

I'm glad someone finally took an offer on one of these - they just look (and sound, from a YouTube video I saw) so very good.

Heres to hoping she's mechanically sound, and will provide many years of service yet.

Countertop Magic

Spray on wipe off with a clean terrycloth towel, this should at least make the swirl marks less noticiable. You can get it a HD or your local hardware store. I have tried it, and it works, you may have to give two applications.

Thanks, Mike. I will have to give Countertop Magic a try.

Washer111, On a ship? I have never been on a ship.

I have a GSD2800 right now, and have mentioned that it is in a "kitchenette" in the lower level of my house. I have a Maytag RR in the main kitchen.

Because U.S. and Australian terms differ, you may have equated "kitchenette" with "galley". Anyway, both my 2800 and I are landlocked for the moment. :)

No, I'm sure it was you who worked on a boat/ship/vessel of some sort, although I'm probablly very wrong, and have mistaken you for someone else.

Oh well, provided they are they same year roughly, your 2800 and 1200 may very well be brother and sister, otherwise, 2nd, 3rd or more cousins!
