It was quite worrying how it broke as it nearly caught fire!
She wants to buy a miele, I will update you all further with more info on what miele she gets.
RIP Zanussi FL853 1992-2012.
She said: "It could have broken down in January! bloomin' thing!"
I had a strong feeling it wouldent last any longer :(
Anyway, thats it for now
Tom :'(

What exactly happened? It could still be a simple fault which could be easily fixed.

It was dtawing in too much power, it melted the plug (which is now cut off and discarded) and it tripped out the power, even if it was fixed and working she wouldent trust it again.
And she wanted to get a new washer anyway because even she though it wasnt going to last much longer.

And I also forgot to mention, the power cord was red hot.

She probably needs a new socket too. The washer is probably fine though!

The socket was changed and so was the plug on the machine, it tripped the house electric and the cord and plug got hot.

The zanussi has been written off. She is now getting a miele W3204 washing machine from John Lewis.

an excellent choice, if not a little expensive. I have the microhole drum version of that machine. What made her choose the Miele?

She chose miele because she saw ours, I also told her about how miele give thier machines tough and rough tests. She also likes the electronic door relese they have, because my niece always manages to open the door and swing on it, miele machines are practicaly bomb proof! :)
I will be fixing and keeping her zanussi, Im not letting a childhood machine go to the tip.
