The seller actually took some very nice pics for a change.  It looks to be in great shape, and definitely worth rescuing.  It looks to be a gravity drain machine.

That's not a J2L

That's an N2L. The J's were square. Still nice though!

My mistake! Embarassed  I was half awake when I posted this this morning, and was still working on my 1st cup of coffee. lol  I know the difference between a J and N machine.  I have a J that's missing the knob on the Gyratator control.

I've just made an appt. for Weds. PM to look at the N2L shown in the CL ad I posted this morning.

Well, I picked up the Model N2L last night, and she's a beauty!  She's been used but not abused by any means.  The decals are even in great shape.  The only thing wrong with her is that the bracket to hang the lid on is broken.  I got it for $40, after making an offer of $35.  Originally they were asking $50obo.  The owner's son told me that he had one inquiry from a guy asking if they would accept an offer of $10, that guy was nicely told where to go. Laughing  It also came with a 2nd agitator.  I really got a nice machine out of this deal!

Congrats !!

What a deal !!! She really does look clean. What color is the other agitator? Mine came with the red Bakelite but I also have a black Bakelite which is what she should have that I use in her at times. Happy Maytaging !!!

They're both black.  I wish at least one of them would've been a red one. Frown

Congrats, Tim! Hopefully you can find a lid hanger for it. I got one from the guy down in Early, Iowa for my J. You'll have to post pictures when you get it all shined up! Are the agitators both bakelite or did you get a black poly one, too?

I can

possibly get a lid hanging bracket for you from the Amish. Let me know if you want me to see if they have an extra.

Jim

Just thought of Phil. He may have one also to sell. I doubt that any NOS are available but maybe they are. Let me know if you need to know how to get a hold of Phil in NY.

Yep!

He's a great guy! I've done business with him on several occasions, never once have I been disappointed.

Can any of you Maytag guys give me the part no. for the lid hanger bracket on a Model J or N machine?  I want to order one from Phil in Ovid, NY, but want to be able to give him more info to make his life easier.

You

won't need a part number for Phil. He knows the machines by heart. You will be amazed how easy he is to talk with and he is very, very knowledgeable. I don't have a complete parts list but do have Phil's parts list. I have searched it fully and don't find the lid hangar on it. They are probably not made anymore. I am certain he will have a good used one for you. If not, I can talk with the Amish about one for you.

Or try

Dave's Service Repair (www.DavesRepair.com...) he's had a few parts for me that Phil didn't. Dave always has a few "parts" machines around. His email is drs@sosbbs.com. Between the 2 of these guys, you should be able to get your part.

Phil wants $15 + s/h for the lid hanger bracket which seems a bit steep to me.

Prices

have gone through the roof for probably lots of reasons. An O ring for the power unit post where the agitator fits and locks is now 10.00. They used to be a couple of bucks. New rolls, if you can find them, are 100 bucks. Roll hangars are 17.95 a pair which seems to be reasonable. Phil's price's and the Amish seem to run the same. I guess it just depends on how bad you want the part as to how much you want to pay. I had to replace 2 bottom rolls because they were as hard as rocks. Seems that at times I have kind of an expensive hobby LOL.

Good Luck !

Jim
