But Frigidaire brand appliances are owned by Electrolux and one assumes judging from what one has seen on printed and other materials made by the same. It could be possible Electrolux farms out work but that is another matter.
Electrolux has a long list of brands under their wings including WCI (White Westinghouse) which may explain the "crappy" appliances you speak. Frigidaire was first sold to White Sewing Machine company who in turn later was gobbled up by Electrolux. In it's other incarnations Electrolux makes some serious laundry appliances including those for commercial use. |

I think I wouldlike to see one of these in person in operation before I place judgement.......can't be any worse than any other manufactured machine today, they all have their flaws, one way or another.....
I heard horror stories of the Calypso's, but after owning a few, I think it's one of the better HE toploaders that was made....same goes for the Cabrio I just got |

It is always good to reserve judgement Martin, but having seen this new washer in operation I an going to say it is the most lame ineffective washing action that I have ever seen in a full sized automatic washer, EVER.
For Hi Efficiency TL washers the best all around action were the Calypsos and the other excellent cleaning machine was the Maytag Neptune TL, but it had far more tangling and spin balancing problems. |

Americans have come to know and love, those that use a central beater and lots of water, are going to be killed off perhaps simply best to do it and get things over with. It simply does not look like these impeller disk jobs are going to work out very well.
Cannot still imagine why no one has introduced some type of H-Axis top loader like what Miele and other sell in part of Europe such as France. Long used in commercial settings and yes you probably are going to be hard pressed to get capacity more than say 11lbs without design problems, especially if sticking with a 24" or 27" cabinet, but still that would be better it seems than these impeller things. It would at least solve the main objection many Americans seem to have about front loaders; having to bend over and all for loading/unloading. |

TL1984, I do not recall saying anything positive about these
new machines, in fact I think I said that you could do just as good a job putting your clothing in a 5 gallon bucket and swing it around yourself for a while. There is absolutely NO TURNOVER in a fully loaded tub, yes the machine will get the clothing wet, but it is basically just soaking the load of laundry then spinning it out and rinsing it and spinning again. If it was this easy to make a Hi Efficiency TL washer that actually scrubbed and cleaned clothing WP, MT, GE, SS, LG and a whole lot of other companies sure wasted a lot of time and money, LOL.
That said I am sure some users will be happy with this washer, after all very few people regularly wash really dirty clothing. In addition to being a poor turnover design for washing clothing the spin suspension design is inferior for hi-speed spinning, no really fast smooth spinning washer has used this type of antiquated suspension in the past 40 years.
TL1984 I will even make you wager on this new washer, If CRs top rates this washer among TL washers I will donate $200 to the AW website if you will the same if it is not top rated, John. |

Here's my prognostication: The Immersion Care top-loader will not do well in Consumer Reports' tests for the following reasons:
1. Maximum load capacity will be smaller than impeller machines from LG, Samsung, etc. 2. The machine appears to use more water per fill than LG, Samsung, etc. 3. Maximum spin speed of 800 rpm will ding energy efficiency score. 4. I'll be surprised if the cleaning score will be as high as machines from LG, Samsung, etc. I agree with John: If effective cleaning could be done simply by spinning the entire tub, stopping it abruptly, then reversing, I think other manufacturers would have already done that. Immersion Care looks like a simpler, less expensive method to create agitation...but probably not as effective. And here's why I'd still like to get one: 1. Electrolux is trying something a little different than other impeller machines. Even if it turns out to be an ill-advised system, it won't be my daily driver. It'll be more of a novelty item to use for fun in the laundry room. I'm a die-hard front-load advocate who loves his Frigi FL'er. 2. If this machine uses the same suspension as my 2006 TL (and it appears to), it will handle out-of-balance loads far better than LG's suspended suspension system appears to. 3. I like having the option to manually control the water level with top-loaders. I've been trying to be more fiscally responsible, and if Immersion Care fever doesn't abate, I'll have to come up with the cash before I buy one. |

It does make a nice water swishing sound when operating. That will fool most people. And it seems pretty quiet too compared to most top loaders. It will be interesting to see how it performs when CR tests its cleaning ability. I know a lot of folks get upset that CR cannot test long-term reliability, but I think their cleaning scores are fairly accurrate.
