I have a 20 year old Hotpoint Potwasher Dishwasher as you all know. It is on its last legs. But yet it still works great but it makes odd sounds sometimes.

I am thinking if i got a new dishwasher should it be a older Kenmore Ultra Wash or a 2008 Maytag Steam Clean dishwasher?

Ultra Wash for the win.

It has the WP powerclean module=outstanding performance. If you do want a MT go for a late 90's-early 2000's Intelliclean before they switched to the TT. Those also would work quite well.

If your going for mid to late 90's maytag, go top of the line and fine an intellisense.

We had one of these from 2000 and loved it. Great machine...quiet, washes great, nice loading ability.

I have to agree with the Kenmore Ultra Wash recommendation. We puchased one after battling GE over our flaming Profile. The Ultra Wash is whisper quiet, does a great job (though it does take a long time) and has very well-designed racks.

Yep. What kind of Kenmore though? NOT A NEW ONE, THOSE ARE CRAP!

Post# 651901 , Reply# 10   1/8/2013 at 18:04 (4,122 days old) by rinso (Meridian Idaho)

Well, the rating of "CRAP" is relative. On a scale of 1-10, our GE profile was an 8.5 on the crap scale. So far the Kenmore Pro has rated a low 1 on the crap scale, which is good. The only thing it could do better is dry.

But, we'll see what the future will bring. In 3 years, our new GE caught fire twice, had the control panel replaced twice and the main motor once after a bearing failed. But, you are right, we may end up lemon as well, but at least it does a better job with the dishes.

Was the 90's ultra wash 2 or 3? Or was ultra wash the whirlpool term? I can't remember as I'm not a fan of whirlpools dishwashers.

We have a 12 year old KM Ultra Wash, still going strong. It's quiet, dependable, and gets everything CLEAN, even with "Bob Loads".

It's either 1999 or 2000. I know it probably doesnt belong in the Imperial section, but though I would mention it.
