I didn't know there was such a thing...
Is there any brands in Europe that have it??

I can find it only in US market....

Does anyone have it? Are you satisfied with it?
Miele hasn't got it in their machines right??

Thnx,
Dimitris.

None that I have ever seen,No Miele does not have them or need them in my view by far.Yes most machines in the U.S. have them

but they are slowly being done away with. The old Kitchenaids had a grinder in that could cut through anything but the inlet holes

were on the small side in my taste.I had a old Kenmore that had a dispose button on the dishwasher I think. It was made by Whirlpool

I could and still do dump cakes and everything in my dishwashers even my L.G. has a hard food grinder and it will do away with a

full cake and other things thrown it with no problems...Yes I love them but with this tree hugging green thing taking over everything

they are replacing are powerful wash 1/3 H.P. with wimpy 50 watt motors that are normal used to drain the machines.. I do love Miele

dishwasher's though they are fantastic machines.

From what I've read, one of the reasons food grinders are being phased out is because they increase the noise level of the dishwasher. Noisy dishwashers beacame a big issue when living/family rooms and kitchens started to be combined into 'Great Rooms'and the noise interfered with TV sound.

As far as how they work, they work great.

A few weeks ago after running a load of dishes I noticed that there were a few bits of white material on the bottom of our dishwasher. Upon examination I realized they were small bits of pasta. What happened after dinner the night before we had some egg noodles left over in the 2 qt pot. About 1/2 a pot full. When we loaded the dishwasher we were so tired out and Karen forgot to check the pot and loaded the dishwasher with the left over noodles in it.

The pot and the rest of the dishes were perfectly clean with no bits of anything on the dishes or in the pot. After unloading the load of dishes I just ran a rinse & drain cycle and the entire interior of the dishwasher was perfectly clean.

This was on our Maytag machine and the internal disposer does do a good job.

I think the grinders were intended to handle  leftover food bits but they where never intended to replace a standard specialized grinder that you would have in your sink that can grind large bones or citrus peels.

Well, I suppose that the sink disposal is difenetly not replaced by the dishwasher food grinder,,,
Anyway, non of the tow is popular in Europe....

We always have had a dishwahser but only a few had garbage disposal and none that I know a dishwasher with a food disposal....

I'll butt in here, and mention our dishwasher (we're all familiar with the DishDrawer, right?). When the drain filter separated, we ran the machine on the Heavy cycle, with our regular soil levels (pretty bad). Either the detergent or the wash pump actually 'disposed' most of the grit in the machine!

That isn't to say that peas and the like were non-existent in the sump area, yet the machine got rid of the yick pretty well. I suppose the larger stuff won't get into the pump, because it is a TIGHT space between the filter plate and the inlet area for the pump, but if the stuff got stuck, the pressure would eventually chew away the food. Anything else was handled quite well by the main pump impeller. Probably wasn't very good for the machine, but it should be good if we can't get a drain filter for the machine if it breaks again out of warranty! The drain filter, by the way, was used during circulation. It forms part of the Filter Plate, where the garbage is "swept into" the filter. It also stops the largest stuff getting into the drain area, though one tends to find peas and the like caught down there when cleaning the machine.

whirlpool gold dishwasher

My dad's whirlpool gold dishwasher has a hard food disposer in it. It works very well.
