Now that I have your attention, LOL!
I am looking for a control panel for a KitchenAid KDS-15. KitchenAid offered two different control panels during the 15-series' run; one was described in brochures as "Antique Gold," and the other was a dark woodgrain insert against a ribbed chrome background. My 15-series machine has the woodgrain panel, but I have a huge preference for the Antique Gold. Oddly, these Antique Gold panels seem to have turned somewhat pink over the years, hence my post title. A photo is below; it shows the Antique Gold panel at the top, and the woodgrain panel at the bottom. Again, the Antique Gold is what I'm looking for - I already have the woodgrain panel. If anyone has one of these babies in a parts stash, I would be interested in hearing from you. I need both the control panel and the door latch handle. PM or email me as you prefer. P.S.: In looking over the Archives, I see that there has been some curiosity about why some 15-series machines have the "pink" panel and some have the Ye Olde Fayke Woode Graine panel. Drawing on my personal memories of the years the 15-series machines were in production (October, 1964 to April, 1968), I think the answer lies in changing popular taste. In the mid-1960s, chrome and gold-tone finishes were popular on appliance and automotive controls. But within a couple of years, woodgrain became very popular on upper-series models, and by '68, it was every-freakin'-where. I think KitchenAid was just "freshening" the look of the panel to reflect the changes that were going on in 1967 or so. P.P.S.: I meant to put this in Imperial; I know better than to put a dishwasher post in Super. My apologies. |
