Hey all! As you know, I have got a Hotpoint Supermatic Plus 9404. Well, it was working fine until September. I put it on a wash and the wash pump was only throwing through a dribble of water, not a full blast of it going through the Filter Clean tray. Is there any way of unclogging the thing easily? I don't even know how the thing works mechanically inside, so there fore I need help! A lot of help! Is there a little filter under the agitator, for the pipe that goes to the wash pump, and through the tub again? If that's clogged, I've got away lightly. I don't know if you can get pumps for these cheaply? Can you?

Please can you lovely bunch of people help me?

Cheers, Chris.

Sorry I didn't understand is the filter on the tub and that is clogged or the pump itself? If so you might try to remove the spout and tub filter and  stuck a fill, drain  or general hose to a tap and stuck it the spout hole and let water go through this at max power (hot+warm)  in the reverse way.....maybe it can help push down the clogging to the tub hole... just to say....would this tecnique be applied?
Hope someone can help you better.....good luck.

Anyway if this is the same principle of filter flo pump is driven by the motor, and the same pump tha drain water  is the same unit that recirculate it into the wash, in filter flo pump is divided in 2 chambers, one for recirculating water  and one for drain....motor turns 2 ways...one druring wash and other to spin, so during spin you get drain pumping and during wash water recirculating, each chamber do have the propellers respectively in opposite direction each other....
maybe is the same principle used in Hotpoint do the tub have 2 holes? ...... I'm not sure, hope someone can helop better..
If it is lime maybe a product on purpose for lime may help dissolve it (even in case is lint stuck in lime), if you have it on hand give a try with a small amount.

Draining

Whilst in principle this this machine operates in the same manner as a filter flo it is much simpler when it comes to draining. It come fill hose with a specially contoured end on it. This is placed over the "filter flo" flume and the tub is drained that way.

So  looks is a clogged  pump issue, it have difficulties on pumping water out the tub   so I guess?  If so just stuck drain hose on a tap and see if that works and you see something coming out tub hole....good luck!

Hi Chris

I've responded to your question under your photo in the 3314L thread as your photo with the back off shows the sumphose with a filter.

Chris, Have you lifted the agitator off and checked the sump hose guard?

Hi Chris!

There are 3 filters in the Supermatic (if you include the tray). The tray is the obvious one, then there is the little red strainer at the bottom of the wash tub which is to be cleaned EVERY WASH, then there is a filter in the sump hose like any other Hotpoint automatic, just tip the machine on its side and loosen the clip on the sump hose around the filter and pull out. The belt will not be a problem as it is tensioned automatically so don't go thinking you need a new belt. The only other thing could be that the pump is clogged up itself and if you take it out (easy enough) you could probably clear it out and keep using it as they are robust.

James.
