I'd recommend either a Whirlpool Duet frontloader, a Kenmore HE3 or HE4 frontloader or one of the newly redesigned Frigidaire FL'ers. The Whirlpool/Kenmore machines seem to have a pretty good track record for reliability, as have Frigidaire's machines. I can't speak for the new GE FL'er, but they look great!

Isn't yet available at all Sears stores, and is in it's first year, might be a service headache. Lawrence/Maytagbear |

I've never heard before of any Kenmore Oasis... Did you want to say Kenmore Calypso? That's the top loading washers without agitator, it has a "wahs plate"... see on Kenmore website! Bye |

The number 1 reason most LGs stop draining is because the owners never check the little trap inside the bottom door.If you have anything in your pockets,it's going to wind up there along with excess lint. When it builds up and is not removed,it causes the pump to get clogged.IT IS A SAFETY FEATURE TO HELP SAVE THE PUMP FROM GETTING DAMAGED FROM COINS,PINS,AND OTHER MATTER THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN REMOVED BEFORE WASHING!!!!If people would just take the time and read their use and care manual cover to cover and learn more about their appliances, there would be fewer repairs/returns.

Is it true that the Whirlpool Duet machines are built in Germany? My Mom was told that when she bought hers (she has been happy with them for 4 years now....no problems) |

Yes, the Whirlpool Duets and also the Kenmores HE 3 and 4 models are built by Bauknecht in Germany. Bauknecht is a company that was bought up by Whirlpool in the past. Unfortunately Bauknecht is one of the lesser German brands. In a recent readers review of the Dutch consumer organisation it appeared that Bauknecht machines needed more repairs than those of any other brand. I hope they did a better job with the Duets and HE's.
