Why wouldn't the Enviroment Agency let you keep the machine?-Better to have you keep it then take it to the crusher or the landfill! |

Well 3 years ago the Enviroment agency introduced new laws regulating the disposal of electrical goods in this country.
Any electrical item that is taken to a disposal site is now classed as waste, to move it you would need a waste carriers license, also all items to be moved have to logged and can only be taken by approved dealers by the agency, to become approved you need to buy a permit at about £900 per year plus of course your carriers license and your logging system, these places will spot checked by the agency to make sure the carrier is conforming. The result of this is loads of money for enviroment agency and very little electrical gear getting through to the public, the majority of it is crushed up various precious metals are removed and sold to china, who ultimately benefit because by starving the second hand market of electrical goods the public will then buy cheap electricals made in china, the poor small bloke who would take a washer and do it up and either keep it or flog is out of the loop now so you can see it is a shit situation the agency has created sod all to do with re-cycling but all to do with money The digruntled git in cornwall Gary |

I too have seen some really tidy looking machines and its now an offense to remove or sort over anything on this site... What a load of crap. Mind you if you happen to park beside someone about to take their old machine out of their car and you just slide it into yours instead there is nothing they can do as its never touched the site !! Just camp outside the tip and wait for people to bring their old machines lol
