I'd consider giving my left nut for a house that original in that condition on the inside. Sigh. :(

That kitchen unit appears to be Woodtone Brown, with possibly an updated washer-dryer combo unit in Harvest Gold.

If all of that is in the same house, the owner is sitting on a gem. Those peach plumbing fixtures are wonderful.

wowwee...
and there's the exact greenish sink I was looking for for months to replace in moms house because hers had rusted below the drain.. Ended up having to replace the whole counter top and a new sink.
The pink bathrooms almost the same as hers was too.

Hopefully someone will grab that GE kitchen... if they do I want to come over and help load it etc so I can see what the place looks like !!!

....To be a Federal law prohibiting real estate agents from using the word "dated."

That one word is responsible for more destruction of more irreplaceable architectural, decorative and mechanical elements in midcentury houses than you can shake a stick at.

This entire nation is now firmly convinced that the only desirable house is one with the very latest finishes and equipment, never mind that hardwood flooring has been replaced with laminate, etc.

Biggest Mistakes in New Kitchens Today

combo52's profile picture

Real wood or hardwood floors in kitchens and bathrooms, one would be very lucky if the floor does not  have major water damage from sink, DW or IM leaks within 20 years and the floor gets ripped out, we see it almost every week in our customers homes.

Second biggest waste of valuable resources, Granite or other stone counter-tops. Granite tops could last hundreds of years and took thousands of years to form, yet few homes will keep these counter tops even 50 years and then into landfill. The other big problem with many granite CTs is if they do not have a very even color people get sick and of the look and in 20 years they will be more out of style than avocado appliances were 20 years ago LOL.

"Dated"

Caused us plenty of grief selling our old house. Damn woman that was our agent insisted that our colour choices were terrible, our bathrooms were hideous and our basic white kitchen (1987) didn't have enough new in it. Yet we still sold the house, and two years later, it was for sale again, looking quite different - but apart from a new stove top and perhaps some new lights, everything remained. Funny that.

I don't get why people buy granite counter tops, yes they are durable, but can be dark and rather ugly. Granite floor tiles are great in commercial locations, as they can withstand plenty of abuse before the airport is refurbished (every 10 years or so?). Our kitchen is the 2nd kitchen in the house, as part of an upgrade to the house.

For an Pinkish-Apricot colour, its not bad for an 82 kitchen. A little scratching near the stove top (knives and no boards), but still VERY good condition for its age (and being "Chip-Board"). I know of many with 1960's wooden-laminated kitchens. Still looking smart AND are still VERY functional

I got them!

I called Nowell.  He was a very nice guy.  He is the contractor who is renovating a lake house that has sat since the original owner died three years ago.  I guess it was a million dollar lake house back in the 50's and the 90 year old owner died three years ago and the new owners have been waiting for permits to have the place renovated.  I got the whole kitchen for a nice sum and he is going to uninstall it and delivery it to me!  It even has all the original manuals!  Don't kill me but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it the original color or I may have to paint it cause I'm not sure if I could live with "woodtone brown".  Any opinions?

Congratulations!!! It's always good to learn that something like this is actually saved. The Woodtone Brown is personal taste, although I think it was one of the more-rare colors (all the more reason to save).

Woodtone may be an acquired taste, but the kitchen center (including the color) can only be original once! Keep it original, work with the color via what you have around it! What an absolutely fabulous kitchen and an amazing find and save to have such a pristine original set, and even the manuals! Are you able to save anything else from the beautiful home (or has he said if others are saving... like those also pristine original bathrooms)?

Congratulations and enjoy the new kitchen!

The tub! The tub!

Oh, for that pink bathtub...

So, are you getting both kitchens? Or is that just one big kitchen with extras? Dish, dish.

I think I was emotionally attached.

@Combo52,  your post never rang truer than it did with me, My brother and sisterinlaw, are redoing our parents 1968 house.  The cabinets were custom made birch, built on site, they did need sanding and a new stain and countertops. Alas, i guess they will hit the landfill. Hello bLowes particle board, veneered, unitized, kitchen in a crate.  I kept my trap shut.  I guess you really can't go home again. Word on their plan upset me last week.  But what you gonna do?  alr
