Does anyone know anything about these? I found 1 at the thrift store for $20.. is it worth it? I'll post a picture later.

Had one. Problem is the paper that you need to use it is not available anymore. It required a two-step process, using to different sheets of paper along with the original. The original was placed between the special white paper that the copy eventually appeared on and a pink sheet that basically looked like pink carbon paper. The "Sandwich" of the white sheet, the original, and the pink copy sheet were placed upside down on the top part of the machine that had a glass plate. After exposing it to light, the original was removed and then the "sandwich" of the pink sheet and the white sheet were inserted into the machine where heat would develop the copy.

Somewhere in my files, I have an instruction book for the machine; but, like I said, I'm almost positive the two-part copy paper that is needed to operate it is not available anymore.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Ron!

I do appreciate it. The machine does look cool, but $20 is a little big for a giant paperweight that can't be used.

Hmmm.

If it's the same machine as the Copymate, I might still have some paper around. Not sure if I got rid of it in a fit of cleaning, though...

Got any pics? Is this similar to the 3M belt-driven "The Secretary"?

I remember this 3M being the first copy machine the local library had. They had a Gestetner for when large numbers of copies were needed.

I don't really need it...

I'm trying to purge. But it is kinda cool. The same thrift store had a Maytag De306 in Avocado, but I'm good there too. Now it if were a Westinghouse slant front...

It's like a large scanner. Heavy too. Kinda cool.

Avoid the temptation!! Remember, without the correct paper, it's a BIG paperweight!

I thought maybe this thread was about a primitive single-sheet copier that would be set up kind of like a tent and a regular light bulb was used.  There was one in my dad's shop for a while, but it disappeared.
