This is to follow up on the screeching dryer in Marin County, which is now a fait accompli.

I found a couple of 5-star folks on Yelp. I asked the first one how long he had been doing that sort of work, and he finally admitted to 51 years. I said, "Then you probably know what a DE806 is," to which he replied,"Yes, what's wrong with it?" "It's screeching." "I have a couple of rollers in my truck." And the rest is history. Needless to say, the other guy didn't get his interview.

So... front glides, one roller and a new belt later... it's performing like new.

Thank you all for the guidance and suggestions along the way.
Kate

Kate

I'm curious as to the company you used. I might need this company to repair my Maytag dryer and washer someday.

It is an individual, Dennis Appliance Service. 415-453-6272

I was going to say I don't know if he takes jobs in the City, but he apparently is willing to go there for parts, so presumably also for (interesting) work. Here is the story on Yelp.

Congrats on getting your dryer fixed! I hope it gives you many more decades of good service.

This post really puzzles me.

To my knowledge there are no rollers or glides anywhere on a DE806, regardless of when it was made. So what was it that got replaced? The drum is suspended solely by the long spindle mounted to the center of the spider. If you paid for rollers and glides then you just plain got ripped off, as this guy seems to have sold you parts that this machine doesn't even use.
