An old Parnall Auto Dry, identical to mine. It was a wedding present to the guy's parents, in 1959, and has the original instruction book with it! CLICK HERE TO GO TO parnall_doug's LINK on eBay |

February must be a great month, just got this on eBay today, a 1986 Zanussi EW1007 which I believe that, reading several posts on them, was an Electricity Board Special! Will be here next week!

I would reckon this as early 1960s. US readers note it is common here to refer to this type of wringer as a mangle, this does not have heated rollers.

Mike
As you well know I am up there with you on the cynical front, but this second machine is in Wigan, the previous one was just north of London, and this seller seems to have reasonable feedback - they like WW2 history apparently. Still, I would look a long time at my £150 (never mind the BIN of £220) before speculating it on an auction without as much as a picture. And even with pictures ....... Al |

Here, Here Austin !!
That is a stupid price for this kind of machine, they made over 1/2 million of these machines, and they last for years so i would say there are still quite a few knocking around. I would never pay that unless it was a "Holy grail" machine !! 20 years ago when I started collecting, people just use to give them away to get them out the way LOL ohh how times have changed. Cheers Keith |

That last Servis twin tub that was posted is not actually made by Servis, it is a cheap and tacky twin tub with the Servis badge and design from then 90's. Don't be fooled, it's crap apparently. |

I very nearly bought one of those Servis twin tubs brand new from a Kays catalogue (I think it was Kays) in 1998/9. I opted for the Servis h-axis top loader instead which, IIRC, was the same price. |

for getting that across I am not offended now I have calmed down. I hope to sell the machine to make some room I am running out of space. I had not bothered to even mention it on AW as I appreciate most have better taste. I am hoping the ebay ethos is on my side and whats my scrap is anothers gold.
Keep them crossed. Austin |

I asked Neil if he still had the same washer and he said no, he had given it to his cousin 2 years ago who had just had a baby and unlike most mums was using eco terry towelling nappies...
It has been used nearly daily for the last two years boil washing and sterilising the eco nappies, he said the only thing wrong is a little flaking of paint on the top - just goes to show you never can judge a book by its cover - lasting longer than a lot of modern washers... |

Like to see how much this sells for, it looks mint, if it is I could see it making that sort of money. I sell high end vintage and anything mint can triple the price or even more. |

I know that some people do not have a high opinion of the Servis Twinnie that Austin has just sold, I think it has rather a nice retro look - somewhat like the Rolls machines of the early 1960s. But how DOES it (or the later Velo version) perform? I have seen Mike's very interesting video of the drive mechanism, be interesting to know how well it washes

Hi Al,
I always thought the same, really liked the styling when I first saw it advertised in the Grattan supplement, very retro and tried to order one, but I was told the first batch of 400 machines had been sold and they were awaiting another batch, presumably from Velo. I wonder if the wash action is the same as the big square Turbo twintub ? My mate had one of those and got rid of it. I think this servis model was 1101. I was lucky enough to get a user manual from Servis. Keith |

They both washed really well and the fact that Neils is washing terry nappies for 2 years says it all really, the square tub Norfrost had a slightly larger capacity and seemed to have a more robust wash action with the washing being forced into the corners of the tub and out again...
The spin was super fast and very efficient, they had the widest diameter can of any twinny made!! |
