Hi guys. Some of you know I recently bought a Maytag washer which was made in Sweden.
Well, on the 20th Jan 13 I phoned Appliancecity, the place I bought my machine, and told them it was leaking. On the 24th Jan an engineer came out to repair the machine. After about 2 hours he told me the machine was ok and if I have any further problems he could investigate. On that evening my partner told me to try out the machine, so I did. I noticed the machine was still leaking and was quite annoyed. The next day I phoned appliancecity and told them I was not happy and don,t expect a 2 month old machine to go wrong. Later on that day I received a phone call from appliancecity saying they have phoned Maytag and a part is on order and could take up to 3 weeks.
I then decided to seek advice from a Which Magazine lawyer who explained all the legal terms. I then told appliancecity they had 1 week to repair the machine or else I can expect a refund or replacement and the deadline was on the 4th Feb.
On the 4th Feb the Maytag engineer turned up and replaced the detergent dispenser unit. He told me to try some washing and he would come back in about 1 hour time. When he did arrive he noticed the flood, yes, the machine was still leaking. I told the engineer I now have to phone appliancecity and ask for refund.
I was also told to put all complaints in writing and send them first class recorded. So I let my letter have chance to arrive to appliancecity and phoned the next day. When I phoned I was put through to the Manager and the first thing he said, would you like a replacement maytag or something else. I said something else.
Its a shame because it was a good machine and don,t expect it to go wrong after 2 months. Which Lawyers have been great.
I will keep you all posted of what machine I have gone for.
