then again, my wasn't "slightly" shaking. Occasionally it would go out-of-balance during the spin causing the tub to slam against the cabinet walls. |

With the panel removed can you locate exactly where the banging sound is coming from?
Is it coming from near the top of the tub? That might indicate that something is loose or broken at the top of the tub involving the balancer ring. If it sounds like it's coming from under the baseplate, there could be an issue with something binding/not releasing in the brake package. From your description, it sounds like it's NOT the tub banging against the cabinet. I may be wrong, but this doesn't like a bearing issue to me. Bearings often grind or squeal when they are on the way out. Other Maytag folk have thoughts to share? |
