While many appliance makers outsource to one another, does anyone here know if any Whirlpool products are made by others?

If there are, those others are probably owned or are under controlling interest by Whirlpool anyway.

Bauknecht used to make Whirlpool's front-load washers, but I recall reading a post at AW that said this is no longer true. Does Whirlpool make their own front-loaders now?

Whirlpool closed down Bauknecht's factories in Germany and are now producing Whirlpools in their own name....as well as Bauknecht's.
Not sure if this is true, but it sounds about right.

Bauknecht was bought by WP in 1989. Therefore, the name "Bauknecht" is as meaningless as Maytag - so to say.

The WP frontload models which are direct drive are produced at the washer facility in Clyde, OH. Produced in the USA. One reason why I bought one.
