Another D&M DW owner that valued their floor more than doing dishes by hand, LOL.

Is upper-MOL, just one model off the TOL.

With Kenmores of this generation, you had a dial only for the BOL. As you went up the line through the MOL machines, you started getting pushbuttons in addition to the dial - the higher up in the line, the more buttons.

Then came the Lady Kenmore, which had pushbuttons only, with lighted cycle indicators that told you whether you were in the wash, rinse, Sani-Temp or dry cycles. We had a Lady K from this generation - a convertible/portable. Wish I had it now! The production cost for the rock maple butcher block top - adjusted for inflation - was probably more than an entire machine costs Sears now.

My Roto-Rack ended its reign when the detergent dispenser finally broke, causing the covered cup to hang slightly ajar, and putting a pretty big damper on its performance.

It was fun, but the two things that irritated me about it were:

- the bottom rack--the tine rows went up to the sides of the rack within 1/2 inch, causing any big cutting boards or cookie sheets to tilt in, thus eradicating the joy of a rail-less top rack, and

- the top rack--looks deep, but the rail above that the "skate" rides in hangs kind of low, so things could still clip it.

That notwithstanding, it was a great machine, a good performer, and your mugs never have water sitting in them when they go through a final spin ;-)

I've seen an awful lot of oatmeal subfloors under many different dishwashers, a Whirlpool and a shaded-pole GE to name a couple.

But I know how we can get John to love it--stick a Power Clean module in the bottom and glue the silverware basket on the door! ;-)

Taht was the next to TOL model we had which replaced the 1968 waste king.  Lots of lights on the control panel and over the buttons.

This is the exact model I had in the SF Bay Area (Dublin) in the late 70s, which was a coppertone. Before that in Concord, we had a harvest gold portable, possibly the same model number. I believe 1975 was the year the Roto-Rack era ended, and was replaced with the triple rotating spray arms.

Would today's liquid dishwasher detergents or "detergent packs" be suitable for use in dishwashers from the "all-powder" era?
