Do you hear the motor engaging during spin?
I have picked up a few Maytags in the past that sat for years unused and found the brake inside the brake package to stick. Remove the drive belt and turn the center pulley clockwise. If it doesn't budge, give it a few violent yanks in the clockwise direction. I have successfully unstuck them this way. |

Did you mess with the removable tub crown at all? If it's pushed down too far, it'll usually jam the tub from spinning. You'd hear some nasty grinding sounds if the tub was spinning against the tub cover. Usually the spin bearing doesn't seize up when it fails. It just rumbles like a freight train.
If you spin the pulley clockwise (looking up at the pulley from below, with the trans belt removed), does the tub spin with ease after overcoming the spring tension of the brake? |
