I am in UK at the moment and am starting to sort out my appliance spares shed. There are various parts for older models including bearing kits, belts and door seals. There are also some twin tub parts, mostly Hoover but possibly a few Hotpoint items. I'm wondering if any UK member has spare storage space and can keep this stuff to pass on to other members as needed? I don't want any money for the parts, I would just like to know that they might help keep a few old machines in working order.
I'm in north east Scotland but will be driving down the A1 / M1 to the Midlands then down to Cambridge area > M25 Dartford Tunnel > Dover ferry on my way back to Hungary.

Fido / Austin

If there is too much for Austin to store I could get my friend in Cambridge to store some parts too if you are ok to drop off en-route. Central London will be too tricky for you and I'm about to put the house on the market anyway and the washing machines are taking up too much space without loads of parts everywhere as well! She has plenty of room and I'd be happy to sort and distribute out to others as required rather than stuff get chucked or left not doing anything.

Send me an email if its needed and works for you guys

Cheers
Stephen

Good idea Steve

I am happy either way just as long as it saves any usable spares from going to the tip !
We can always make way for more parts when needs be I just hope I don't end up moving as I will have to have a decent shed or a garage lol

Looking for a drain hose ...

Hi!

Phil,

Just in case: I am looking for this dicontinued washer part (see pic)

Old-type drain hose for some Hoover twin tub models (i.e.: 0510/0512 U.S.)

connects to the pump at one end, the other end has vacuum-like termination

Regards,

uj

Couldn't agree more regarding saving the parts Austin.

Tell me about it for the new house. The criteria is a garage or a decent sized utility room or a workshop. Most people are after bedrooms and a garden lol. Oh and one without stairs to negotiate for getting machines in and out! I've got to move the Miele out of here at some point and I'm not looking forward to that!!

I actually emailed matchboxpaul when there were initially no replies on here so he has first refusal but no doubt he can pass items on to other members. I'm hoping to meet up with Paul on Sunday evening if things go to plan. If this falls through for any reason the Cambridge suggestion might be workable. I will be staying with relatives in Cannock on Sunday night so Cambridge would be Monday.

I passed the parts on to Paul yesterday evening so he will no doubt be sorting through them. There are quite a few belts but I've no idea what machines they fit.

Really glad they have gone to a good home and have been saved. Thanks Phil for offering these up to us AW users and hopefully they will go some way to keeping some old classics going for a while yet.

Cheers
Steve

Many thanks to Phil for passing on the spares to the UK appliance preservation community.

It was great to meet you - I curse the restricted time we had to reminice about machines of yesteryear, with you continuing the next stage of your drive back to Hungary and both of us held to a 2hour maximum parking time limit at Castle Donnington services. Ah well.

It will take a while to go through all the spare bits and bobs, but they will be put to good use by collectors and preservationists in the UK.

Thanks again Phil.

Highest regards
Paul
