No its not, I say! I used on of these for 7 years as my daily driver (it was bought new - I am talking about 1988 - 1995) and I was very unimpressed with its performance which was very average and that is being kind. It did not clean as well as the Philips 2000 it replaced nor as well as the Indesit 4000 which replaced it.

PS You seem to have the same ebay link in the post about the 9517

Hoovermatic de luxe

A very tidy machine. Looks like an early version of the 3314L - the hose storage is different, the rating plate is at the top and it looks like the mains lead has the old colour wiring so pre1971 which was when the wiring colours changed. I'd go for it myself if I had any room and was allowed :)

Anyone any news on the 3312L? Yep, its definitely a 3312L from the late 60s and not the much commoner 3314L.

Fingers crossed it will have found a good home.

Apparently unsold - which is a real surprise. Paul (not being funny about it) I am surprised you did not go for it as these must be pretty rare, actually I don't remember these at all - only the 3314. Apart from the hose storage, what are the differences between these two models?

Al

Post# 673231 , Reply# 22   4/16/2013 at 16:50 (3,999 days old) by matchboxpaul (U.K)
Ohhh bugger!

I was going to watch it and see what happened, reaching to get my wallet if it looked like no one else was going to bite.

Then the listing was ended by the seller, due to the item being no longer available - fingers crossed it has found a good home.

The only difference I have noticed between 3312L and 3314L is that the earlier model has black kickstrip tape attached, to tie it in with the 3020, 3221H and 3223H widebody frontloaders.
The 3314L is without, to tie this machine in with the 3022, 3235, 3236H and 3243H Matchboxes.
There must be some mechanical difference too, but thats not my forte - I just make them look pretty and leave the technical suff to those who know what they are doing.

Picture below from Nobles 1969 Catalogue.
Paul
p.s the non de luxe running mate of the 3312L was the 3307, later replaced by the 3314L's running mate, in the form of the 3310E.

3312L

Hi Al and Steve

well I do have one of these, in a rough working state. As you say the main difference is in the storage section at the back rather than storage hooks. The nameplate on the front is surounded in aluminium trim rather than the grey plastic. The washtub is of the older matt finish stainless steel and the moulding of the top trim isn't quite as completly surounding the washtub, so when washing, water and foam bubble up over the hinge side if the washtub lid.

Otherwise the visual from above is the same, I know this model was launched in 1967, anyone know to the contray that this wasn't the first twintub with autorinsing. I know of the rolls autorinse model, but i've been told this was little more than a spin timer and a water spout over the spinner, though i've not seen one to know this for sure.

For those interested in the inside workings, the spindryer differs from the 3314l in that it has the bell shaped cast iron pulley, with the short spin can shaft, where as the 12l has the longer shaft, flater pulley with the tranax driving pin.

Hi Mathew

It's good to know someone out there has one too. Bet its not as rough as my 3314L!! Sounds like some opportunities for a new thread and some pictures. I've seen drawings of the alternative spin can arrangement but would be great to see some pics if you have them.

No, not the car, but a twinnie. It says the pump does not work (presumably wash pump) but this need not be a deal breaker and 99p start.

If you do a youtube search

ozzie908's profile picture
you should find Lances video of the same machine.

The pump should be easy enough to sort out but if this is the single motor machine then it spins as well as washes at the same time.

Most odd.

FYI......

There is a NEW Shoppers Square forum that went "live" 4 days ago.

This is the thread Robert posted about adding a "Super Market Forum" to Vacuumland and asked what we thought about creating one here on AW.

http://www.automaticwasher.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?46210_27~1

Here's the thread he posted in our new "Shoppers Square" forum when he launched it.

I hope this helps!

Thank You

Kevin for that clarification, as the Ebay thread was started way before a discussion was even thought about the said Shop, we will continue to finish the thread for the course of the month until we need to start a new one, in which case it will be in said new forum - or if Herr Webmeister proceeds to move it and the other threads to said forum now -

Thank you for bringing this to our attention!!

Hi Mike,

I'm not saying this thread needs to be moved, I just posted the info to make you aware, if you weren't.

And a "eBay UK May" thread has already been started by 'thelaundrylab'.   I mentioned the new Shoppers Square forum to Hass and he contacted Robert and asked the thread be moved and it's there now.

Kevin
