Seller states it has never been used; he might be right. It's very clean looking, inside and out!

Wow!

That is an awesome gas stove! One burner 16,000 btu, a 12,000 btu griddle, and I guess 2 9,000 btu burners? What is a "maid-o-matic" - anyone know? Imagine how much heat that would produce in the kitchen!

Reminds me of a cookbook featuring recipes written by children. I recall one recipe for Roast Turkey that began, "First you have to get the kitchen real, real hot then tell all the kids to get out of here..."

I believe the "maid-0-matic" was the thermostatically-controlled burner (right front on this model). I had an earlier version of this in my last home. Mine was a 1957, 36" wide model that I loved and hated leaving behind.

Lordy!

If that is not unused, then someone was a dab hand with the cleaning!

That thing is gorgeous, and I'm normally not a fan of Kenmore styling of this era.

I think it would be nice if anyone in 'Lake Wobegon' were interested in this range would contact the seller and arrange for a personal inspection.  They could report their findings and whether they were going to place a bid.

I'm just sayin......

Pilot lights

I would rather have that stove any day. With a lighter you can light any pilot fueled gas stove if you shut off the pilots. That does look like a neighbors that had a regular manual light oven. At least my 1995 Whirlpool/Amana still works with the power out and saves a third or better on gas.

And had plans to look at it today. The person handling the estate said the "estate" has decided to keep the appliances with the apartment and they are no longer for sale!

My guess is that it'll pop up in the future for a much higher price. I shared it with retro renovation after I posted it here. I didn't realize but there was also a fridge that had seen minimal use. It's a Crosley 'Shelvador' and it has a glass door freezer! This listing too, has also been pulled.

Why on earth

Do they need a manual to hook up a gas range They must not have a clue about plumbing!

Yes I Second Reply's # 22 & 23, if they need a manual you need a different installer, unless you are doing something like going from Nat Gas to propane or the reverse, Why do they think they need a manual ? Are you telling us everything ?

John

In Maine, no licensed installer can hook up a stove that is not either pilot light, they would rather not, or electric ignition preferred. They can not hook a stove with a match light oven because some idiot turned the oven on years ago, smelled gas went to light it and boom. If you have the gas line right there, stove is set correct for natural or propane, with a teflon tape connection and soapy water to check all connections always worked for me and never any problems.

Patricia...

Not sure what the circumstances are with your installer but, this may help you.

Here are a couple pages from a manual that I have for a Kenmore 103.208701.

This has the info for adjusting the burners for all gases and other info about the range. Is this what you need?

This appears to be a 1957 model.

I look for this kind of stuff at estate sales, garage sales, flea markets, etc. for my own interest but sometimes it helps someone else in the group.

If this is what you seek, it can be copied and sent your way.

Bill

Well...

Thank you all for your responses. I was away and just got back. So, the problem is I have electric and want to convert to gas and they need the measurements that are in the manual
since it seems my cabinets are too low :( and yes, correct about the pilot light and the boom! I hope I can even find someone to do it after what happened like a month ago with the gas explosion in Durham...Im in N C

There is a space on your model tag for that info but it is blank. So yes, you would need an owners manual to find out that info. Good luck.

1957 Kenmore range owners manual

Hi there,

I am currently having a 1957 36" Kenmore Maid-o-matic restored. I have been searching for the manual. I happened upon this thread while looking online. Would it be possible to obtain a PDF of the manual? I would like it just for my own information. I had written down the serial/model numbers but I can't find the paper. It's currently having the enamel redone, etc. Would this manual have any information regarding the 36" features (rotisserie etc)? Thanks for any help. - Matt
