Hi everyone!

As you may know by now, I'm from Eastern Canada. Passionate twin tub washers collector. I am searching for an old-type (NLA) drain hose that was original part of some models of the Hoover twin tub washing machine (ex: 0510/12 U.S. and some models in the U.K.)

Needed to replace the actual drain hose--not the original and not good anyway--of a Hoover 0510 (would like to replace it by the original type of hose) :

Looking for this model exactly (see pics below); one end obviously connects to the pump and the other end has as sort of 'vacuum brush termination' ...

Pleeaaase, Launderess, Macboy, Chestermike, and everybody who could try to help locate one... ...It would be MUCH appreciated! (good compen$ation offered)

Many thanks,

uj

Hello, unfortunateley that model hose was not available here in the UK our models never had that style, we have the short stubby hose which pushes onto a valve on the top of the tub, and the long ribbed ones which are attached to the pump and come out of the back of the washer.

Yours is a hybrid which attaches to the pump and come through an opening on top of the tub, its also smooth to allow a snug fit so you can push and retract the hose when not in use, if we sent a ribbed model it would not fit snuggly and leak water down inside..

So over to Laundress....

Yep, your best bet is Launderess for sure. Take a look at this post of parts that she had for sale. Reply #1 I think shows a picture of two drain hoses of the kind you're looking for.

BUT... before you get your hopes up, a new member named hippiedoll was looking for the exact same drain hose for her 0510 a couple of weeks ago, so Launderess might have sold it to her.

BTW, who's Macboy? :-p

Oops!!! My bad... there is a Macboy on this forum, and he just so happens to be a collector of Hoover twin tubs.

I thought unclejohn you were referring to me, but I guess you knew what you were posting! Hahahaha.

Only had two NOS Hoover hoses in my stash and aren't sure if both remain. Am going to try and get to my storage cubby by this weekend to see what there is, but as "HippieDoll" via another member spoke first.

If one only has the lone hose remaining am leaning towards keeping it as a spare, though probably could jig up something else.

''hose secours''

Launderess,

Okay, thanks! If anything by luck comes your way, please, just let me know. Yep, I knew member named Hippie Doll was looking for some spare parts as well for a 0510. In any case these original types of hoses seem highly difficult to find nowadays.

Thank you, Barcoboy, for the details and for the link! Yes, indeed, there is a member named 'MacBoy' who happens to have--among other things--an Hoover #0510.

Mike, this means that one kind of a hose is more scarce than I thought. Thought the old UK Hoovers 3334/3345 used one. Wrong was I! One thing is sure: this old drain hose seems to be on demand these days. Perhaps Hoover/Candy could manage to manufacture some 'limited edition' spares of it for us desperate Hoover afficionados! (!?!)

hi launderess & everybody!!!

it's me christina (hippiedoll)

yes, i am hoping that launderess will have more than just one of these drain hoses in her stash. i've been checking daily to see if i find a reply from launderess. so, please don't think i've given up. i just want to be patient & not pushy.

to launderess:
i am still sitting in my chair waiting for your reply. and to let you know, i am also in need of a "sump" hose (the hose that goes from the spinner-can to the drain pump) if you have an extra to sell as well.

to unclejohn:
if you don't mind me asking, what exactly is wrong with your drain hose? is it cracked, or does it have a slit in it, or has it just broken apart?

just to let you all know, i have been actively on the hunt, searching to see if i can find any other spare parts for these Hoover 0510. if i happen to find a hidden treasure chest of spare parts, i will definitely post a message on here to let everyone who owns a 0510 know that i have hit onto something.

and just to let you know, i did find a small supply of hoover twin tub parts on ebay. i don't know if anybody else has found this same seller but i did buy a washtub to drain pump hose from them and i also bought a pulsator belt as well from the. and then i bought a pulley & o-ring as well.

the seller is located here in the united states. they are in nevada. the seller's name on ebay is: roadtrek96

they have a few Hoover twin tub parts;
parts to the drain pump for both the old style pump (0510-0512) and the other kind that is in the hoovermatic. and they have the plastic faucet for the spin rinse & other various parts as well. so if any of you need parts for your hoover twin tubs, it would be a good idea to check this seller out. i've been meaning to give you all a "heads-up" on this ebay seller, but i've been so busy trying to find hoses & parts over the computer that, that is basically where my whole day goes!!! on google, bing, and store & appliance parts websites. searching searching searching.

well, sorry for the long message. i will be waiting to hear back from launderess & unclejohn.

lovingly,
christina (hippiedoll)
peace.......

. . . an horrible drain hose story !

Allo Christina

The main reason why I'd want to get rid of that 'horrible' drain hose is because it falls on my nerves!! You know, I just can't get along with it! I bought the Hoover 0510 last year from someone out there in Utah (paid as much for the fedex shipping to Canada as for the price of the washer itself--but I really wanted one of these models!). Sadly, the drain hose that came with the unit was not the original. Instead, somebody installed a cheapo type of hose which doesn't comply when you 'fold' it. Exactly the type that will eventually crease or crack or break! :(

That being said, the Hoover 0510 is a lovely little machine. She's what we might call the 'standard' American-made Hoover twinnie. Here in Canada, not that many will come your way: Rather, outta here you are more likely to find the Hoover model 0610, quite a bit different from her 0510 sister from the U.S..

Geez! That reseller (eBay) has lots of interesting things. Too bad no Int'l sales! I bought some stuff (incl. protective 'spin mats') from a reseller in Australia, named Fasttrackspares. They do have certain things for washing machines, twin tubs, etc. The only 'nah' is the airmail shipping from there costs quite a lot.

Oh! I almost forgot: You (AW name 'hippiedoll') have priority, of course, on the search for Hoover parts, as my inquiry came some time after your initial request to other members in here (Launderess, notably). Yes, we could wish a gold mine of real Hoover parts might be discovered somewhere! But for now -sigh!- think we'll have to sit and watch--and wait patiently...

unclejohn's drain hose.....

hippiedoll's profile picture
i can imagine your pain, with the replacement drain hose. i imagine you are very mechanical & good with working on things so i'll tell you what.....

if the stars line up correctly, good luck is in the air, & launderess does have an extra drain hose to sell to me, i will give you my original hose. it is the original shape & everything. the thing is that it is starting to get a slit on the second bend, from the square-ended sided. as of right now, i have some yellow rubber-type tape around it, which is working pretty good cuz the slit isn't real bad, it just started. but, i was thinking of using some of that silicon sealant on it, if i don't find another drain hose. but if launderess does have a spare hose to sell me, than you are more than welcomed to have my hose for free. you can reapply some electrical type rubber tape to it or you can do the silicon sealant idea to it.

but like i said, if launderess does have an extra drain hose, i will give you mine that is still very usable but just needs some "doctoring".

tell me what you think unclejohn.

just me,
hippiedoll ;o)
peace & love......

Wow!

Christina, you made my day!! Sure I would be more than very glad to get an original hose (even with the little defects) in place of the 'horrible hose'. My Hoover washer would be extremely happy as well. The silicon repair option seems to be interesting. I still have a couple of different silicon gels at hand, something could do the job. Let us hope that there is a hose avaialable for your washer. In this way, both our beloved 0510 would be very happy and satisfied of the outcome!

Thank you hippiedoll!
