The white mini-basket is a rare version that was introduced in the middle of the 1964 model year and was quickly changed to a green color; it was an amazing score from a recent washing machine purchase; it was just waiting on a basement shelf and seemed to belong to no appliance in sight. The green version on the left has discolored badly and is awaiting a make-over that won't damage it but would restore it's original jade green color. I wish a plastics expert would chime in on how this happens and what can be done about it. |

Two more mini's and her mini-basket collection will be complete! Not pictured: the GE Daily Dipper. It's in a previous thread from about a year ago and she believes it only works in a Wringer Washer.
Pictured below, the illustrated history of the GE spiral ramp activator. From left to right: #1. 1961-early 1964. #2 late 1964-1965. #3. 1966-1969. #4 commercial washer activator. #5 re-introduced in the late 1980's and then dumbed-down to have a minimal boring Activator cap (boo-hiss). |

Clara and I have an extraordinary fondness for the green Straight-6 and the light blue Straight-8 but we both agree that the straight Activators were a mistake; probably introduced to increase the capacities, efficacy and appeal of the mini-basket to the great detriment of the basic washer. She's missing two samples and would love to get her hands on, #1: A black Straight-6: |

I saw u had quite a few mini baskets, I am needing a white mini basket that fits the extra large cap. swirl ramp agitator and that also fits the big filter flo pan. If u have an extra one of these or have one that u don't need "which I doubt" lol everyone wants all the mini baskets we can collect, but jus a thought and question. Thanks-Doug!

Very impressive! Our 1975 GE washer in harvest gold was one of the best machines we ever had. Went off-blance a lot, but other than that it was a real work horse! |

If you mean the 3 pairs of ridges running down the sides of the 3 ramp vanes, I think they were just decorative like racing stripes (the kind on the sides of sports cars is what I mean). The "shoulder" ridges on the tops of the vanes were added in late 1964 to carry the new larger mini-baskets and to make them look more effective. They came with the new claim that the machines were now capable of washing 14 lb. loads (of mixed heavy fabrics {made with lead threads, presumably}).
Nothing in the GE family moved laundry through water more effectively than those original spiral Activators, although the 3-vaned straight Activators in the solid tubs didn't do a bad job, probably because although the solid tubs were shallower than the perforated tubs, they were wider and more conducive to rollover. |

In the late sixties, early seventies, you could crack someone's head open with the filter pan, then the eighties came, and they became the weight of a Hasbro frisbe! Mike |
