Was shopping around today and saw this washplate
With holes in the bottom.
Will it reverse rollover better then the later no holes type..?

I kinda like the newer harmony machines. I know that originally they came from LG, but I believe these are being built by GE directly. Funny there hasn't been any complaints about the harmony machines exploding during spin.

Maybe the holes along the ribs of the impeller/wash plate create a bit of a surge of water that helps push items in the load upward to aid reverse rollover.

I've come to enjoy watching the center of the load "bloom" during agitation in the Immersion Care. And like a flower, it blooms very slowly, LOL.

Great photo of you and the new GE's, Darren!

Maybe the tub drains better that way? Could also just be a visual effect. BTW, anybody noticed how four out of six temps are cold: tap cold, cool, cool and colors (cool). :-(

I couldn't help noticing that the hottest wash (96.2 F) is not even as hot as the normal temperature for the human body. What are the "engineers" that design these stupid things thinking?

What if you have a kid come home with lice? How would you wash their clothing in water hot enough to kill them? There should be some sort of override.

The ability for at least some front loaders to achieve "sanitary" temps of 152F+ degrees is one benefit of front loaders over these new TL washers.

Stumped.

I have no clue on how and why the towels cycle uses less than the normal cycle. Maybe it uses a spray rinse(s)? I have doubts about the reviewed web page as some of their info seems to be a bit...untrue.

Yeah, they don't say which temp they used, though I assume the one that's preset with each cycle. I sure hope it's Warm in the case of this GE because a hot Whites cycle at only 92F...?

Wow, it tops out at 96 degrees? I guess the Immersion Care is not alone in the "cool is the new hot" division.

I've said it a hundred times: Don't buy a washer without an internal water heater!*

*I broke this rule with the recent purchase of a Frigidaire Immersion Care top-loader. In my defense, I had no idea the hot water was dumbed-down to 'cool'. And I have a front-loader with a heater, so I'm covered.

Sheets, Towels/Sheets, Jeans, Heavy duty and Whites should be AT LEAST 140f (60c). That is where my water heater is set and that's the water them going into the Whirlpool for these types of loads.

If the Delicates cycle was 81.4F, and it used less than a quart of hot water, that tells me that the cold water intake must have been very warm. I wonder what the wash temperatures would be if the cold intake was 36F, which is how cold my water can get in winter.

as with any ATC set temp....it would add more HOT or Cold to achieve the set temp....

sometimes its a benefit, when requesting HOT/WARM water...it will purge the line until the HOT water gets there......I always purge my lines at the sink before starting the machines...

then again none of my machines dub down that far....except the Cabrio, but a HOT wash will only drop down 10 degrees from the water heater setting...so far, I can't complain....

on the Cabrio, while you can't turn off the ATC, certain cycles(heavy duty, whitest whites), as well as turning off "energy save" and "eco boost" will give warm to hotter washes...than something like Casual or Delicate/Handwash...but you also would see changes in wash times and wash pattern....

try to override where you can, but sometimes it doesn't always work...

Thanks guys.
I have been in Margate AC with my partner for awhile and no PC lol.
And not much fun on a phone but I going to attemp this.
Seems like All machines today uses
COLD TO COOL WASH TEMPS.
I was talking to a lady in Shop Rite yesterday she had Tide coldwater
I ask her if she liked it she said yes
Very much.
Well she also said she has light soiled
Clothes.
Since this is trending again I'm up for the challenge
In moderation but will still use warm and hot temps.
But I'm afraid guys its here to stay.
I wished I had more time with Martins Cabrio machine
To use low water cool washes with whites.
I'm not sure if he has or not with Tide coldwater.
Anyway had more pics of Machine shopping.
I wonder if John Lefever looked at the new GE washers
And his take on them.
I found my old box of coldpower that I thought
I lost.
Eugine I thank your right on the washplate
The holes could aid in rollover.
And thanks on the picture Mr.
Its About COLD!

The dispenser is nice. But am a little *surprised* to see that, if you want to use another softener, the machine will beep so you can add it manually. Very retro - in a bad way. I think they could have added a small dispenser somewhere.

My next door neighbor has a new GE with one of those stupid impellers and using nothing for water. She put a bed spread in and it was not wet in places and her old Whirpool washed it fine. She says she has to do twice the loads now and sometims they still have to be run thru again. So much for energy efficiency. They didnt listen to me when I told them to buy a Speed Queen.

Wayupnorth..mayby the new models with the larger lmpeller
Could be and improvement.
I just hope for a better all American company to get
Back a little to its roots.
I guess will see.

Saw in a another thread on a top of the line GE.
I would like that model because of the internel water heater.
I'm sort of still baffled on steam cycles ..
What and how it works..especially a top loader.
And why special cycles for tomato , grass, ext..
I mean one artical with the stain and the rest not..
I don't think anyone uses Stain Treat cycles ..like
Neptunes Stain Brain..and others.
Would like to see it work someday GE new line.

I don't understand how steam works in a top-loader. It makes sense Ina front-loader because the clothes are constantly tumbling through the steam. The internal heater is a strong selling point. Now that I know how an Immersion Care works, I'm curious about these giant-tubbed, high-tech machines. With internal heaters. There may be a new toy in the laundry room by summer's end...

built in the USA but...

I'm wondering if they were designed by LG?
In any event I'm considering replacing my laundry set with something GE.

It's either that or SpeedQueen but I am always washing comforters/bulky items.

I checked them out at the store a couple of weeks ago. They sure are big inside!
One thing I would be concerned about is that on the model without the smart dispense system, there was no way to clean the dispensers, as they were tucked under the metal frame.

When their new, American made "RightHeight" front loaders make it to the stores, I will be most curious to see the build quality.

The manual talks about the detergent and softener tanks. There's a way to clean the tanks out in the Special Features mode and it talks about what to do if you think the tank is clogged.

It also talks about how to set the detergent and fabric softener amounts, I was really surprised at how flexible this machine is about dispensing. It can be set to dispense anywhere from 0.4 ounces of detergent or fabric softener to 12.5 ounces. That's quite a big gap but it can be used to account for water softness and detergent/fabric softener concentrations. The concentrations can be selected separately (detergent and softener) anywhere from 5-100 in increments of 5. A concentration setting of 5 will give you 0.4, 0.5, or 0.6 ounces depending on which of the three dose sizes you select for the given load. For a concentration setting of 100 you'll get 7.5, 10.0, or 12.5 ounces. I quite like this machine for this feature alone. I use more fabric softener than most and like that I can up the dosage and it will dispense it all automatically the way I want it to!

The info for the dispensers can be found on page 10.

Like many off the comments above I suspect this might be an LG in disguise, but I could be wrong. The first one how ever is a hydrowave machine based on the 1997 super epic plastic garbage shredders that replaced the GE filter flows...avoid at all cost.

The Maytag isn't to bad if its with the agitator and the deep water wash is more of a gimmick due to the fact it only available on the heavy duty cycle.

the only drawback is about the dryer, after reading the manual online, seems like the dryer needs a water line for the steam, well, i don't have a water line and i can't use the washers water line because my washer is across from my dryer not right next to it, i like that lg has a tank you can refill, that's more user friendly.

I too am intrigued by this set and look forward to seeing a video of it in action! Now for the steam feature on the dryer...I have a GE Profile dryer with the Steam feature and I used it maybe twice. It works ok but I can iron faster and do a better job than the dryer can. I think that you wont miss it even you have it and if you decided to get it hooked up you might find its kinda meh...just my opinion, your milage may vary.

there is a seperate electric pump for the recirculation system but the smart dispense just uses the water pressure from the water line to draw detergent/softener up through the tube, interesting, there is a tank flush that the machine can do, ge says it's only needed if you switch detergents or accidentally put powder or bleach in the dispenser.

well we got our new ge set yesterday, thought i would share this video with everyone real quick, the quality is not great but it was taken with an iphone 5s but it might be because it was sent to me through email, i love this machine so much! is very quiet has a recirculation system, this was the whites cycle which uses the least amount of water, there is no heavy duty cycle, the manual says to use whites cycle for heavy duty items, the clothes circulate really well, it does a great job on comforters, my partner used the sanitize cycle on his whites this morning, his dirty socks were snowy white, clothes are much cleaner than the 2010 frigidaire top load.

It may be very easy to connect the dryer to your homes water supply, you can easily use an ice-maker polybutealene flexible tubing kit from where the washer is, these 1/4" water line kits are as easy as running a wire to a computer- TV etc. I would diffidently try out this feature since you paid all that money for it.

ha speaking of dryers, one very big disapointment, we plugged the dryer in and turned it on, the dryer was so loud my bf and i looked at eachother and said "no way" anyways, the dryer has a bad bearing right out of the box, making a grinding like metal on metal sound, we went right back to the store we got it from one hour later (sargent appliance) and told them about the dryer, and they ordered us a BRAND NEW dryer no questions asked, i am still using the bad dryer being is the new one takes a week to come in, when we were at the store we had the salesman plug in the dryer that was on the showroom floor and turn it on and it was quiet as a mouse!!!

Cotton/sturdy cycles

I have noticed that GE has labeled the cotton/sturdy cycles dark colors, normal/light colors and whites. What are the differences between the 3 cycles? What are the agitation arcs and rpm's spin speed of the dark colors on the default settings?

Which cycle uses the most water? I know GE's new FL washers seem to get good reviews......but I dunno, I haven't had a GE appliance in SO LONG....Didn't they want to get out of the appliance biz at some point, but didn't? Or are they still trying to?
