since the guy is in indianapolis and i live in cincinnati i went ahead and bought this one, gave him 75 bucks for it. i have 3-kd-12's already that work great so this one will be a parts machine if it is too far gone to restore.
gonna drive over and get it next week, will post a thread after i get it home and tear into it. we shall see here! |

in my 5 years of buying old appliances on e bay. my offer was accepted and i got an e mail saying "please pay for your vintage kitchenaid". i went to pay and found a message from ther seller stating the dishwasher was no longer available!
obviously the seller had second thoughts, probably assuming like they do that just cause it's old it's worth thousands of dollars! or hundreds! or they sometimes think when i tell them i collect old appliances that i am in it for profit and am going to re-sell it for hundreds or thousands! all they would have to do is visit my home and see the 50 plus machines i have tucked away in spare rooms and a barn in the back to know otherwise! i think 75.00 was quite fair for this machine! i have 3 more that work great and are pristine, i paid no more than 100.00 bucks for any of them. i have 2 more i bought for 50 bucks that when i got home found they were beyond repair (like this one well could be). doesn't look that great in the pic! not nearly as nice as my 3 working machines! i just wanted to try and save it for nostalgia sake as i do in all my appliance buying. if it was beyond repair i was gonna strip it for some parts! if they think they can get more i have a feeling they will be surprised! and after their unethical behavior thru e bay i would not buy it now even if offered the chance! oh well, easy come easy go, there will be others that need a good home! and i am reporting it to e bay tomorrow. they did agree to sell it to me for 75.00! |

Makes for a good teardown with pic details. Another save from the landfill. |

and they "say" the dishwasher was accidentally thrown away with the trash last week while they were out of town!
could be true, yet i have heard that story before used on other members here on the site by sellers who wanted to back out of a sale! i'm curious to see if it shows up on craigs list or e bay in the next year again! and i do check both on a routine basis as well as on this site where other members do the same. oh well! they missed a sale if it's true and i missed a chance to tear into another great old kitchenaid! life goes on. |
