My folks had that EXACT dryer when I was very young and the matching 1 speed 3 cycle washer.  First time I've seen one since ours died in 1990.

I think that Andy is correct that people often equated long life with the Maytag name. Maytag's advertizing campaign was so effective over the years that many times when people would meet me in public wearing my Whirlpool uniform they would say oh your that lonely guy that never has any work, LOL.

If it was a proper Maytag then it would hardly matter if the image got flipped . . . I'd rather have the Whirlpool though, LOL
