Hey, I've got a machine up for grabs. Tub and agitator in great shape, cabinet a little rusty here & there. Needs a new pump, but motor and all else work fine. I'm in Lake County, just two hours from San Francisco or Sacramento. Free to anyone who wants to pick up and enjoy some wine tasting along the way! Am hauling to the crusher in a couple weeks if no takers. Please call 707-499-8576 if interested. Thanks. Todd

Todd, is that one of the machines you picked up in Sonoma County a couple of years ago?

1953 Kenmore

The 1953 Kenmore has decided to retire to Sunny Palm Springs California.  Thank you "washerlover" for a great machine  and Thank you  "RevinKevin for talking me out of a long road trip. (It sounded good for about a minute) Now the hard part where do I find a pump for the old girl? Any advise would be appreciated.

Will come along with an answer to that question.
I'm glad someone got it, instead of the crusher!
Keep us up to date. Want to see the old back in action!

Kenmore pump

I have a 1950 Kenmore. While it still needs more work, I was able to remove both the suds pump and regular drain pump, and replace the regular pump with a modern 2 port Kenmore/Whirlpool plastic pump, the style for all belt-drive Whirlpools from the mid 50s to end of production. Replace the agitation cam-bar, that way the proper lever works the newer style pump. I don't know when the cam-bar change came into production, possibly by 53 all you need is the new pump, no problems with the cam-bar.

As it turns out, as long as the suds valve works, this new pump also does the suds return, no problem.
