This ad is located on Kijiji. The wringer looks in great condition...but what's that "mini basket" with a lid?

Neat!

GE's first incarnation of the mini-basket designed for their wringer washers...great for baby clothes, delicates and those nuisance loads

Who knew ? How cool! A mini-basket wringer. Simply Amazing!

And as usual, wonders never cease around here. With a lid, too, so no hot sudsy steam escapes or hot water cools too soon.

What fun this would be to do some warshin' in.

Thanks for the treat, Guy. Does the link have more info? I'll try to find it later.

My Aunt had a GE wringer out on the farm when she was first married. She had to pump water and then heat it. Would the metal mini basket be strong and thick enough to use on the stove to boil water?

Boil pot, boil ~

I was thinking the same thing when I noticed the cute handles just like on a big stew or soup pot, and the mini-tator looks like metal. Of course the handles are there to lift the water-filled "basket" to and fro, since there is no filter flo to do the job of filling.

You could do a boil wash, more or less, so to speak. YEAH! A boil wash! Move over Chestermikeuk & Lads. LOL.

Clearly doubtful, but wouldn't it be amazing if there were holes in the basket, and you needed the pump and hose to keep the basket full of water. A handy guy could fashion it to work that way with a good drill. He'd have to elevate the hose over the basket, etc. After all of that, he may as well find a filter pan that fits, and go all the way.
