Does anybody have any experience with these OnGard systems?

Interesting idea-but as you install the OnGuard system-you could vacuum out the lint in your dryer!

Overall, not bad, but wouldn't regular maintenance and proper installation be good enough?

A way to make $$$

Just curious what this thing actually costs? Probably as much as new dryer. Having said that, I'm sure there's a market for this kind of device, such as for those people who don't know/care that you can/should clean out the dryer's interior once a year or who are just too lazy to do it.

I'll be doing the inside of my dryer in October/November, so I'll need a few pointers from the more experienced members here. I'd rather do that than have my dryer burst into flames, with or without an onboard extinguisher..

Cleaning the insides of a dryer is easier than you may think it is. The hardest part is taking the cover off the dryer. And while you are in there don't forget to check the dryer belt condition.

vs several pounds of dry chem fire suppressant...

In theory its a fine idea and it could solve some problems. Indeed there are some statistics out there but I have a feeling the designer is using a scare tactic to increase sales. I would seriously doubt that anyone that frequents the AW site will ever have a dryer fire. Cleaning out the dryer is a pretty easy task for anyone that is reasonably handy.

Two things I noticed looking over his site and at the video that bugged me were:

1. There is no pricing information
2. He doesn't disclose the chemical retardant in the thing. HEP-1 must be a name he made up.

Makes it seem a little "Snake Oil" like to me. He might do well to market it on late night TV in between the Slick 50 and OrGreenic cookware infomercials. Order in the next hour and you get a free ShamWow!

I got the impression that the product was just now being launched and he is looking for places that will act as dealerships.
