Hi,
I'm brand new to the forum and my 1st question is about changing the impeller on an old (1971) Hoover portable washer.
Is a special tool needed to get the nut off at the back?
2nd question: if the nut doesn't come off, how does the darn impeller come off.

You might have guessed that I have a broken impeller on my hands... among other things.

Thanks anyone.

my first guess is which way are you trying to turn the pulley/nut?.....this could be a left handed thread....

The thread runs counter-clockwise, Yogitunes, that is, to loosen the nut at the back. But I couldn't see any way to grab hold and get it to turn, with my eyesight.

A light bulb just went on in my head, Yogitunes: 'Try to turn the pulley counter-clockwise'.
I'll try to do just that. I'll have to hold the broken impeller for leverage, maybe with a vice-grip.
I guess the pulley should loosen if it turned in the correct direction, but how to grab hold of the pulley?

Too Tired To Type The Thing Out

Scanned and saved the page about pulley removal/swapping as a PDF file. Send me an email and will forward.

According to the manual these directions are for model 0515.
